It was an unusual early morning for me on Saturday but I was more excited than I was sleepy, especially because I was about to meet with some of the girls from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers (MHB) group and take them out on the Nissan Sylphy to Pavilion for a sponsored makeover. I mean, it’s something a single guy could not ask for more kan?

Anyhow these are the beautiful ladies… Introducing Naomi Tham (www.naomitham.blogspot.com), Isabella Wong (www.isabellakuan.com), the new Nissan Sylphy (yes, she’s a beauty too!) and Valerie Chua (www.princessmiharu.net).

New Nissan Sylphy? Yeap you heard that right – the very same one that got the Overall Car of the Year award by AUTOCAR ASEAN and has been around for roughly 4 years! Except, this 2012 model smells of a new facelift – the Nissan Sylphy 2.0XV Premium!

Immediately you’ll notice that the exterior (front) of the Sylphy 2.0XV Premium has a more aggressive looking bumper, a new chrome grille, and new headlights which gives it a more modern and sporty stance. Pic credits to Paul Tan.

The back sports a mean looking rear light and shows off quite a number of curves, what a devil!

Anyhow after a quick briefing on the car and it’s features (scroll below if you want to see it immediately), Valerie, Bell and Tim Chew who invited me headed down to Pavilion KL in one of the Sylphy’s while Naomi, myself and Alfred from Nissan went in the other. This is so that we could test drive the car to and fro, now how cool is that?

Since Naomi had the honor of driving first, I had a good look at the interior of the Nissan Sylphy 2.0XV Premium and this is what stood out immediately:

cool black interior theme with fine cherry wood trim

a sporty new silver-ringed combi-meter design incorporating a Multi-Information Display

a new audio system head-unit with MP3 and Auxiliary input

new display also doubles up as the screen for the reverse camera

To be honest, I totally loved the reverse camera cause my own car has it, but this one looks a whole lot nicer! Once you’re accustomed to it, you’ll never want to go back, promise.

Anyhow the ride was awesome and though Naomi had to get used to the powerful motion when the accelerator is pressed, she adjusted quickly into it and the rest of the journey was great. Also good to note that you can’t really hear loud engine noises from within, quite sound proof. We arrived first so I could take a picture of Valerie and Bell coming out of the car, looking too comfy for their own good and I don’t blame them: the seating style was made to give you maximum comfort, serious!

We drove the cars at Pavilion’s Porte Cochere (the one at the Centre Court) and left them in good hands with the valet service, meeting 2 others who also won a chance to experience a Date with 2012 Nissan Slyphy and headed straight right into the mall!

That was when I took the keys from Naomi and boy did I find the keys super sleek or what?! Anyhow, I digress. We soon made our way up to Groom EXP salon in Tokyo Street (Level 6) for our hair makeover. I was ready as ever to try and look as gorgeous as the girls. Who knows I may attract at least ONE of their attention, right?

And before any makeover, it is imperative that we took a BEFORE shot, right. This is us, BEFORE! Now let the makeover begin!

First they started by wetting our hair and giving it a really good massage. I like the corner of my area, nice right the artwork next to me?

We also had our hair washed. This is Tim Chew letting his stress go as he gets a beautiful wash from a beautiful lady at Groom EXP salon.

Fast forward later, my hair was done and this is how I look! Cool or not? Does it match my key or not? LOL! By the way, they used high quality Shiseido Professional hair products to give me this new hairstyle. Jeng leh?

In the meantime, while waiting for the girls to be done (you know lah, our (guys) hair already takes 30 minutes but girls
must take minimum of 1 hour one. All guys with girl friends will know this fact to be true :P) I had my Ochado bubble tea and The Load tuna bun to munch on. They really took care of me here!

Oh and while we’re at it, I had the chance to ask some of the chosen new Nissan Sylphy car owners some questions regarding their new purchase. Here they are:

Owner: Miss Teo Chin Shia

MHB: What is your first impression when you saw the Sylphy?
Miss Teo: I thought it was elegant, just the right size for me and had a spacious interior. I fell in love with it immediately!

MHB: What is your favourite feature of the car?
Miss Teo: The GPS nagivation (NAVTEQ MAPS) and the reverse camera. Also I never thought the parking brake (which is operated by foot rather than a hand lever) can be so convenient. I use the space where the handbrake normally is in other cars to put my handbag and other personal stuff (MHB – with the spate of recent crimes with motorcyclists breaking car windows to steal handbags we encourage all drivers to put your handbags below the car seat or if it’s small enough in a covered compartment out of sight of thieves and robbers).

MHB: How do you maintain your Sylphy?

Miss Teo: I make sure that I send it in for servicing following the schedule.

MHB: Where do you normally drive the Sylphy during weekends/holidays?

Miss Teo: We’re planning a trip to JB soon!

MHB: How different is your driving experience with the Sylphy compared to other cars?

Miss Teo: I used to own a MyVi which was so different from my Sylphy. The engine was loud, the boot was small, and while driving on the highway the wind and engine was so loud that I couldn’t even hear the music properly! Not to mention that the car was not that stable at high speeds. My Sylphy is worlds apart with a spacious interior and very low noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

MHB: What do you think about Nissan cars?

Miss Teo: Well before I used to think that it was an uncle car but my perception has definitely changed from the moment I stepped into the showroom! The salesperson was definitely friendlier than other car manufacturers while the Sylphy has a sportier and younger feel to it with the black leather and the curvy back lights.

Owner number 2, who has a 2 month old kid.

Owner: Miss Nor Hamidah Bte Abdullah Sani

MHB: What is your first impression when you saw the Sylphy?
Miss Nor Hamidah: My husband and I thought it was the perfect car for our lifestyle. We liked the interior, good acceleration, plus it’s very comfortable, and spacious enough to easily fit a baby seat.

MHB: What is your favourite feature of the car?

Miss Nor Hamidah: There are lots of compartments, while the trunk is big and deep! Very important for a couple with a small child.

MHB: How do you maintain your Sylphy?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We make sure that we send it for regular servicing and we also wash it often to preserve the nice coat of paint.

MHB: Can you share your experience driving a Sylphy?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We find it pretty good. My husband drives it quite often while I tend to the baby who definitely appreciates the quiet and smooth cruising.

MHB: Where do you normally drive the Sylphy during weekends/holidays?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We like to go on road trips. So far we’ve been to Perak and Melaka in the Sylphy. We’re planning to go up to Penang soon.

MHB: How different is your driving experience with the Sylphy compared to other cars?

Miss Nor Hamidah: My previous car was a Toyota Vios which I felt was less spacious, and had less features as compared to my Sylphy.

MHB: What do you think about Nissan cars?

Miss Nor Hamidah: Nissan cars have a premium and executive feel about them!

MHB: How do you find the NAVTEQ MAPS?

Miss Nor Hamidah: I find it pretty accurate and dependable.

And so there you go!

This is the result of all our makeover. Suddenly everyone looked a lot more younger and rejuvenated. Yes, even Tim Chew himself LOL! I guess you could say that this facelift we have will now match that of the car’s. Hehe.

And of course nothing is ever complete without a group pic with our stylists from Groom EXP salon and the folks from Nissan (Edaran Tan Chong Motors). Thanks guys for this super cool experience!

But wait, we’re not quite done yet. Lunch is to be served, and guess we headed to?

Yeap, lunch in Kampachi, no less!

We began with a series of sashimi set. As the girls didn’t eat a lot, I managed to do them a favour by having theirs, too. Hehe

Tim had his awesome looking Bento set. I wish I had this one, but I’ve tried it too many times whenever I go to Kamapachi… and so I opted for this instead.

My Grilled Salmon set And yes it was so yummy! Well, it’s Kampachi after all, kan?

Finally, we’re done, tummy filled, hair beautified, all that’s left to do is to drive home and sleep! <
/p>

I drove this time from Pavilion to the Nissan showroom in PJ, and had a very good experience. The only thing I felt uneasy was the seat as it was too comfy, am afraid I’ll fall asleep if I drive long destination. But I guess that’s where I have to get enough rest, ey? Since I couldn’t take any pics, here’s an eye candy for you – Bell driving the Nissan

Oh and since we’re at it, here’s another cool function I didn’t get to share earlier: the bi-xenon projector headlamps which are equipped with an Active Front-lighting System (AFS). Basically, if you turn the steering left, the spotlight on the left (or right spotlight when you turn right) illuminates the road to the left giving you better vision when you make a turn along dark roads. This lighting system comes with manual aiming control, and provides powerful long-range illumination and optimum visibility in all weather conditions and has an auto-light system mode which automatically turns on the headlights when you’re in a dark area (eg. basement/ night).

Didn’t get what I said? Well the best thing to do is to head to your nearest Nissan branch and give it a go yourself!

And that was it! Read on to find out more about the car, if you will. The least I could do is to provide you with more info so you don’t waste your time, kan? Here goes nothing:

Engine

The engine was pretty responsive with the all-aluminium MR20DE 2.0-litre 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine equipped with Drive-by-Wire technology for enhanced responsiveness while delivering 133ps of power and 191Nm of torque. It’s also equipped with Electronic Concentrated Control System (ECCS), electronic fuel injection system and continuously variable valve timing control (CVTC), Nissan claims that the engine will deliver superb fuel economy.

Interior

The air-conditioning system now comes with a digital temperature display and has an automatic setting to maintain a consistent desired temperature throughout the cabin while the Masumi seat fabric and the sofa-like rear seat concept provides a high level of comfort.

Safety

The 2012 Nissan Sylphy comes equipped with dual front SRS airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, front seat Active Head Restraints and Zone Body construction with front and rear crushable zones giving it a 6-star JNCAP rating.

Other Features

16-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels, intelligent key (i-Key) keyless entry and engine-start system, and leather steering wheel with audio controls (so your hands don’t need to leave the steering wheel).

Colours

Choose from Bronze Gold, Tungsten Silver, Sapphire Black, Twilight Grey and Brilliant White

Price

The 2012 Nissan SYLPHY is available with an on-the-road price of RM114,880.00 for the 2.0XL and RM124,880.00 for the 2.0XV. The prices are inclusive of insurance, road tax, registration fee and ownership claim fee in Peninsular Malaysia. There’s also a promotion where buyers will get an aerokit free of charge with each new SYLPHY.

I became Superman along with many, many others at the DC Comics Store launch at Pavilion recently, and this is how I looked.

Ok I’m kidding, but hey, we really all did become Supermen. It was an experience like none other, getting us exclusive merchandises costing more than RM500 easily just so that we could fit in into the celebration!

@Vernieman and I couldn’t resist… We were natural posers!

And once more to show you the crowd behind us. To be honest, I loved his costume more!

It was really a sight to behold. Real life figures were placed everywhere to mimic the characters we’ve all come to know and adore. The heroes and the bad guys have some kind of root with us that we can’t help but to be in awe!

That was before they came to life! Here’s Wonder Woman in all her brilliance

I tell you, having them walking around dressed like that, the little ones could not help but unleash their excitement as heroes walked about them!

And that includes me too. How can I not? It’s Flash in the flesh yo!

Nevermind that, guess who’s in the house and caused blood-curling screams to rise in Pavilion?

Followed by a heartthrob singer to spice things even more!

Yes it’s Desiree herself! Totally rocked it yo. Also it signaled the beginning of the fashion show…

Starting with Clark Kent himself! Doesn’t he look so much like the real person?

And the classic move begins…

To reveal Superman!

And Supergirl

Din Tai Fung is not a stranger at all in the world of Taiwanese cuisine as it is considered one of the best globally. The latest branch to appear in Malaysia happens to be in Pavilion on the 6th floor, where TGIF is located, and for that we really should rejoice!

And why is that, you say? That’s because Din Tai Fung does not only consistently keeps check with the quality and taste of the food they serve to be equivalent, if not better than their counterpart in Taiwan, but also create a environment so that us as customers also get to feel the Taiwanese culture through and through!

The appetizers

Not only do the waiter and waitresses get sent to Taiwan to undergo strict (and fun) training, some (really hot, mind you) Taiwanese are actually brought here too to observe the correct customs and to ensure none of Taiwanese culture is diluted in any way at all. Everything from their greeting style, language to the way the food is served concisely explains their culture to us customers, therefore giving us a rich experience of dining in Taiwan!

In any case, let’s get you through some exquisite Taiwanese dishes that is sure to whet your appetite for this coming Chinese New Year!

Japanese Cucumber

The imported cucumber retained its crunchiness even when it’s soaked in yummy soya and sesame sauce, giving a sweet-like savoury feel with every bite. Very, very special flavour, must try

Special Appetizer – Sour Spicy Seaweed

This mix of sour taufoo, seaweed and spices is meant to whet your appetite for the dishes to come.

Spicy Jelly Fish

This very Thai-inspired dish is beautifully done and tasty as well. Don’t know how they can extract the essence of the flavours without adding additional flavourings on it…

Taiwan Century Egg

These century eggs all have runny yolks that tastes like heaven as soon as they get into your mouth. Laced with pickled ginger, every one of them is as addictive as hell!

Crab Meat & Pork Xiao Long Bao

Served piping hot, you can clearly taste the fine mix of crab meat and pork intertwined, their juices kept tightly within the special dough used to create the firm thin layer of protection.

The way to eat it is by picking it up on the TOP end without spilling its juices, dipping it into vinegar with shredded ginger and then carefully biting the thin but firm skin for the hot juices to flow into your mouth, pop in the dumpling and enjoy as it swirls its way around your mouth, touching your tastebuds with joy.

Shrimp & Pork Dumplings

Again, every morsel seem to contain a flavoursome piece of steamed juicy patties, a beautiful mix and mash of prawns and pork meat to form the dumplings. Once again, Din Tai Fung’s special flour was used to ensure firmness of the skin while still being able to be thin!

House Special Steamed Chicken Soup

Now if there’s anything I would come back for, it’s their House Special soup! Even I can’t imagine how something simple using really basic ingredients could taste so good without being too salty at all! The technique and equipment used ensured that the taste of every chicken pieces (4 lovely pieces to be exact) blended well into the soup, giving it a really premium broth that no words could even begin to describe! A definite must try, 5/5 stars!

Cha Jiang La Mien

The la mien, at first, I thought was too bland. But after a quick chat with the chef it was understood that the typical taste in Taiwan is mostly that; bland. Hence the healthy levels there are a lot higher compared to, say, the Western dishes. The problem was solved, however, when she poured a nice dose of vinegar (specially made from Taiwan) which then turned the whole dish into something amazing altogether!

The noodles were springy and looked like Japanese ramen, except NOT as springy. It tastes really clear as well, something I’d much prefer than an overpowering noodle taste, especially when eaten with clear broth.

Pork Chop Fried Rice

Very decent and typical dish consisting of a healthy portion of fried breaded pork together with fragrant fried rice. Best eaten with their chilli flakes too!

Baby Green Beans with Minced Pork

Crunchy and small enough to eat comfortably, one can never go wrong ordering this tasty dish. Good for health, too!

Mini Sesame Bun

These little bun comes with sweet black sesame filling, steamed like a bao. Even the paper that holds it underneath is imported because only then it wouldn’t stick to the wooden surface, which you will find in other dim sum outlets. This shows how much Din Tai Fung values even the smallest detail.

Red Bean Xiao Long Bao

Red bean filling instead of the usual pork dumpling, it is certainly a unique dessert to try, made possible only because of the special dough they use.

We finally end the day with a taste of their Sour Spicy soup which was exactly that; sour and spicy… and most definitely tasty! All in all it was a meal to remember by, thanks to the people at Din Tai Fung for making it such a pleasant experience, complete with their polite Taiwanese culture practiced all the way from the chefs to the waiters. Since I work really near, I’d probably come by again, ESPECIALLY for their House Special Steamed Chicken Soup, YUMS!

Cause they nice nice treat me good food, thanks to the people from Melium and, of course, ShazFX who recommended me!

Furthermore being at the concourse of Pavilion itself, the beautiful surrounding definitely lends to the amazing lighting and ambience which leads to better taste and feel…

Which allows me to take pictures like this. I LIKE! This one here is the HoneyComb Goldrush, blended and topped with big chunks of golden honeycomb chocolate!

Then there’s the original Coffee Twister: Blended with a shot each of espresso and chocolate as well as real, freshly roasted coffee beans. Topped with a light dusting of chocolate. Umm um.

My fav picture of all time, a medley of HoneyComb Goldrush, Coffee Twister, Chai Chiller (Blended with chai tea to create a unique clove, cinnamon and ginger taste sensation. Lightly dusted with cinnamon) and the all new DÔME Original Shake in banana flavour called the Banana Shake (how original lol!), so smooth and thick!

So there it was, Zues, Shaz and I snapping away while a thousand onlookers were probably trying to find out what we were up to lol! That’s also when I realised the best thing about my Panasonic Lumix G1’s Live View is soooo useful compared to these machines haha!

Down to up also can shoot wooo hoo! Love my Lumix G1 <3 Ok food come liao!

These were our appetizers, starting with Vegetarian Bruschetta – Freshly toasted garlic bread, with fresh tomato, onion, garlic, herbs and fetta cheese topping. YUM!

Then we had some Sausage Rolls as well, which are chicken sausage rolled in puff pastry, served with tomato chutney. The sauce is awesomely awesome!

If you’re a big fan of Minestrone Soup, usually traditional chunky-style minestrone topped with croutons, you’ll love this. Served with fresh crusty bread.

Then comes the Club Sandwich. Allow me to describe the sandwich to you: Pesto chicken, spinach leaves, a layer of beef rasher, fresh tomato, mustard mayonnaise and tomato chutney between thick slices of toast. Served with chips.

Yes, pictures tell a thousand words, but sometimes even words can be used to take over the world

Now, the Beef Lasagne blew me away! Love the texture and the flavour of this food made of Premium beef, chunky tomato, lashings of bechamel sauce and melted cheese. Served with salad!

The Grilled Chicken in Creamy Tumeric Sauce wasn’t my cup of tea, but apparently one of the best sellers in Dome. Try it out, they use chicken breasts marinated with herbs grilled and served with creamy tumeric sauce, sautéed vegetables and buttered rice.

Of course you can’t really go wrong with the Fish and Chips. This, however, was particularly crispy and fresh in the inside. I guess it’s all about quality control, no? These lightly battered fillets of fish served with fresh garden salad, chips and tartare sauce was certainly a delight to behold.

Then came Shaz’s all-time favourite dish called the Spicy Olio Pasta, which is your choice of spaghetti or linguini tossed with fresh herbs, garlic, chilli flakes, red capsicum, spinach, parsley and zucchini. Served with your choice of beef rasher or sliced chicken ham. Vegetarian is also an option. Reading or viewing this picture isn’t going to do any good, you have to TASTE it to find out why Shaz goes haywire and eats this EVERYTIME he’s at Dome!

This lady will be waitering you, a very, very nice and polite lady! After bringing out the main courses, we go to the last but best part of the day; the desserts.

Affogato. A double shot of espresso infusion poured over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bliss. MUST TRY!

And last but not least… A stack of fluffy, thick pancakes served with berries, golden syrup and mascarpone cheese. Ice cream and extra Crème available on request. The Pancake Stack, not to be missed and perfect for tea!

Some time ago Ringo and I went to Pavilion for a taste a fusion of Chinese, Japanese and Taiwan cuisine at DainTi Hill, located on the 6th floor of Pavilion, a place for many gastronomic adventures (though also quite taxing to the wallet!)

She was just out from some make-up do and looking gorgeous as ever (and in this picture, she looks so much taller!) so there were no surprises when I noticed some head turns coming from guys and girls who’d come our way.

The place looks beautiful as you can see, striking a futuristic ambience between the shadows and glowing lights, the contrast apparent to those who enter the premises. Truly a masterpiece to behold while waiting for the food to come!

I heard lots about this little pumpkin dish, despite it being served cold. The texture was highly interesting, porous in the inside to create a spongy-like feel while not being too thick, and yet coming of as smooth as cream. The taste would be heavenly to pumpkin lovers, we both certainly liked it.

Then came the soup. I think if it wasn’t for the appetizing style of the which it was served, the soup wouldn’t have lived up to its standard. It was okay though, a really pretty thing to look at. We were fascinated by it for a while before our next dish came with a sizzle…

Slices of sizzling pork on top of white japanese rice, all hissing inside the hot stone bowl (it was really hot!) seem to create a heavenly illusion to the whole experience. No words were needed to describe the savoury aromy arising from the steaming pot of marinated sizzling pork strips in curry, as if they were meant to induce pools of drools within our mouth.

Ringo didn’t hesitate anymore and digged in. The portion was pretty decent and hence we shared it between the both of us.

While waiting for my turn, I had the opportunity to check out the quirkiness of the design in DainTi Hill, and fully appreciate the beauty of its intrinsic design. Being an interior designer myself (just a hobby, not pro at all) I thought I would learn a bit or two by the creativity shown in its different sections of the restaurant. You can view more pictures by visiting here.

We opted for dessert ice-cream as it looked really good from the menu. Choosing between red bean and mango, we decided to go for fruits to end the night, though later I quite wished we had had gone for the red beans instead. It came as appetizing as it looked from the menu, and tasted as sweet too! In fact I had mine with extra sugar water that was provided in a separate dainty jug.

Ringo didn’t really like it as she was more into savoury food than sweets. That didn’t stop her though, and though we couldn’t finish the ice shavings, all pieces of mango were eaten away as well as its core (also stuffed with more mango goodness!)

And that was really it! The price was a little hefty with the small number of dishes but I would have guessed any restaurants situated on the 6th floor would have similar pricing. All in all the ambience and styling of the food was excellent, though the taste didn’t quite measure up to par, gives it a rating approval from Christopher Tock of 7/10!

Watch Out Malaysia!

<font color=brown">Even the Gutterpost blog that withstood Edison Chen’s infamous scandal is now affected by Elizabeth Wong’s nude picture hype (which I believe is overrated, and is NOT a scandal in the first place anyway).

This goes to show how much the world is taking notice on this despicable turn of events happening only in Malaysia, my dearly beloved country.

Just the other day I was feeling a tad bit melancholy. Fortunately, I’ve got a colleague (who I will refer to as Hamtaro) who’s the sweetest understanding person who never fails to slap me back into reality. What reality you say?

This reality. That there is so much food in this world that I have not tried yet, so there’s no way I can just lie down and forget the world to live in my fantasies, but to get up all burning with passion again to earn money so that I can fly everywhere in the world to taste the greatest taste of all!

After all, there’s no greater love than the love for food *winks*

It would then have to start with something small, which would be the food court at Pavilion. That’s where I had the lasagna above. Which was pretty good by the way

She had these instead. Cute little fish medallions with shoe-string fries scattered all over. Guess it was more of the cutesy yummy then the orgasmic kind, but, you eat what you pay for, eh? hehe

We also decided to give this small little pizza-in-a-cone concept shop a visit… Japanese-oriented (along with international price, OUCH!!) I guess it was more of a gimic than an actual tasty treat.

ie NOT worth your money.

It’s pretty cute though, don’t you think? XD

I still feel melancholy at times, but seriously, I think I’ve got a whole lot of different views compared to others, and though many would not seem to understand me, I guess there’s an even bigger reason to show this world how I live through actions in my life, and less through words that could only portray a small piece of the all grand-stand plan that I have for the people of this world!

Ok a bit too dramatic hor? ahah… memang got people say I’m too dramatic, but ah, what’s a life without a little exaggeration, eh?

Indeed there’s a lot to see, small miniscule responses that could mean a whole universe of meanings. All it takes is for one to be observant. All it takes is for one to not lose their naviety, so to speak, without sacrificing acknowledgement of the cruelty of this world of course.

All it takes is for one to continue hoping, and giving hope, to others so much so that they can in turn enjoy life as how it should have been, and I think I’m in a very blessed position to do so

Happy Deepavali my friends.

Eh wait. Christmas is coming along already!

Did you see my beautiful tree?

When I’m not hunting for cheap but delicious delights in the heart of KL, I indulge in luxurious high-class cuisine that is not too dear for my pockets, and at the same time tickle my tastebuds for all that it’s worth.

Take for example, the dish above is one of the great selections of appetizers served in C.Club, Pavilion. A luscious combination of Lobster with pan-seared Foie Gras topped in a tangy concoction prepares the taster for something greater to come, its mission to whet ones appetite is achieved immediately just by its alluring display.

Here you can find a better view of the huge, succulent piece of foie gras, with the trail of balsamic vinegar giving a touch of class to the dish.

The Duck Confit was served on a bed of warm mash, bowled in fried Kataifi pastry to give a pleasing visual sin. It wasn’t my dish so I have no comments over the taste, but Ewe Tiam seemed to have enjoyed it, so I’m willing to give it a benefit of doubt for now.

Next up was the Wild Mushroom Risotto that although was not visually stimulating as the previous dishes, it gave a distinct mushroomy aroma which clouded my senses, sending me into a world of fungi goodness. The risotto was cooked just right, moist while retaining its natural brittleness, such that it absorbed the flavours really well making each morsel a tasty treat to behold.

Dessert was up next, which I think was nothing to shout about. Here we have lychee and longan apiece, complementing what looked like a layer of cake which its name I have conveniently forgotten.

The brownie they had was, again, nothing to shout about. Decent and sweet, served with strawberry ice-cream, at least it completed our meal at the posh Carat Club.

That would be Tiam and the Penguin, our host and hostess for today, acting cute for the ‘atas’ aunties and uncles to see, who I noticed frequent this place often. Prices were just above the top, but not overtly expensive. At least I can applaud the food’s taste and design, wonderful.

Then out of the blue we managed to catch some of the well-known *deleted due to demand lol*, those who know will know about them, and those who don’t, well, it’s the past so I can’t be bothered to talk about it. All in all it was certainly a night of luxury orgasm, without so much of any complains apart from Hotel Millennium’s bad hotel staff at the parking bay. But that’s a story for another day.

Sushi, Pavilion decided to celebrate Shaz’s birthday by having their official grand opening of their branches in both Pavilion and The Gardens just before the actual date itself, which is today, since they know Shaz has this cumulative list of neverending dates/meetings/interviews/birthday celebrations for at least the next 5 days and a good 2 months, starting from today.

YAYA WHO AM I KIDDING HAHAHAHA! ANYWAY, on with the yummylicious pictures bound to kill half of you guys, all thanks to Eddie Kong of Yo! Sushi for the generous invites and the good chefs for providing us lots of extra food

This is Bryan and Jon, who were the first to arrive at the closed-for-private-function Yo! Sushi outlet that looked awesomely like some fine-dining place, except that it’s really just a classy sushi outlet that has a cellar of wine to boot.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Turns out the event was pretty well organized, complete with a (very short and funny) speech made by Mr Jeff Cook of Kendall Jackson, Q&A sessions with prizes and a yummylicious selection of food that complements the four types of wine served.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Ah, always feels good to be an invited guest, just seeing my name there oredi makes me happy So, first off we had a combination of fried renkon, salmon skin and edamame, served with KJ Vintner’s Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. This was followed by Salmon Tataki Sashimi below, which completed our Appetizer listing.

While there was nothing to shout about the assorted mix, the Salmon Sashimi definitely enticed my tastebuds, and I thought the salmon pieces went well with the savoury caviar coated in what seemed like Ponzu sauce. Certainly worth noting about!

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Second up was our Deep Fried Hairy Prawns, which really is black tiger prawns wrapped in Kadaifi pastry and deep fried til golden. Served with wasabi-ginger mayonnaise and fried Shirao baitfish (those whitish thingies), I would have to say a great play of texture was done beautifully here. Of course, this was served with KJV’s Reserve Chardonnay.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Me, Cheesie and Shaz enjoying our Hairy Prawns lolol. Cheesie and Shaz were actually classmates back during their LUCT era, and the best thing is that though they’ve graduated a long time ago, they’ve both only just collected their sijils last week ahhahaha. It’s so much WORSE compared to Imperial who sent mine more than half a year late, but at least they had to courier it from London, UK ok!

Glad to have caught up with u la Shaz, u know I damn sayang you right? hehe
Dun so emo, Elmo! (no not you, Christmas!)

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Then came our Beef Teriyaki, made of Australian Ribeye Beef grilled lightly and rolled over some Enoki Mushroom and Asparagus, sprinkled in some eatable yellow petals lol. I kinda like this, as the asparagus adds a refreshing taste to the savoury and well-marinated grilled beef. Or just maybe the green colour of it tricks me into thinking that I’m eating healthily hehe, in cue with my supposed diet plan

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

In the midst of it all, we had the Q&A session popping out and each of us were ready to take home a prize! Cheesie, fortunately for us, was the only one who won and received vouchers for Yo! Sushi. Automatically that voucher became Shaz’s birthday present, which we all conveniently forgotten to get for him haha!

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

It was then when we were presented our final savoury food for the day, bar one dessert to come. The assorted Iso Rolls were made of a few specialties, namely: Eel Roll, Soft Shell Crab Roll and Spicy Salmon Roll. All were unique, and had a certain distinctive taste to them. I wouldn’t say it was orgasmic, but we certainly did ask for more later of these tasty bites

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

The last wine served for the day was the KJV’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, which is the red wine you see above. I’ve never had tastebuds for alcoholic drinks (though hard liquour is another story altogether lol) and so it’s sad to say I cannot appreciate fine wine, though I’d like to one fine day.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

And last but not least, we had our dessert to complete the Wine Appreciation Dinner set. The Pakistan Mango Pancake Roll with Italian Amedei Chocolate was nothing short of fantastic, as I loved feeling of the sweet, warm mango wrapped in crispy pancake roll melting in my mouth while the green tea ice-cream cooled the mixture down, giving a total yin-yanging orgasmic experience all kept within the confines of my mouth cavity, flavours toying with my tongue indefinitely before disappearing altogether. Urhhmmmm.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

And then while people were making their way out, we were waiting for Shaz’s “surprise” birthday cake that Eddie conveniently let Shaz know about beforehand. Yes, Shaz was still excited over it. lol.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

And there you go, the handsome boy with his yummy cake. Love this picture of you Shaz!

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

Dome’s Tiramisu, if I’m not wrong. Creamy, ice-creamy texture, laden with sinful sugar icing. What more do you want with a cake?!

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

And thus ends the exciting day for all of us. Once again it’s many thanks to Eddie Kong from Yo!Sushi who treated us really well despite looking like a bunch of no-named guests (haha!) who can be seen taking a picture with Shaz on the right, and of course, Shaz himself for being such a darling for inviting everyone else except for me (HAHA!) and he’s lucky I’m such a great friend to forgive him for calling me Marcus RIGHT ON THE next day after we met each other for the first time! URGH! lol

Haha I kid la Shazzy Wazzy. HAPPY 25th Birthday to you mate, have a blessed time and keep on rocking the world
