It’s Sunday again and I usually spend my time eating away if I’m not working or at the gym!
I am generally a person who picks vegetables, fruits and cakes as snacks whenever I could, which means I chow vegetables like I own it all whenever I could. Yet during office time, I TRY to snack healthier like yogurt bar, yogurt, fruits and well! CORN!
As you all know I have psoriasis problem which makes my food group really limited, so I have always been frequenting Daily Fresh next to my office for some corn in the cup at times. Not until I was so lucky to be invited to Daily Fresh Food Review.

How could you not know about Daily Fresh? They are established since 1997 and famous for their corn in cup and later on the extensions to more snacks! Let me share the 5 items I’ve discovered!

1. Gelato Tempo

Gelato Tempo
(So Sorry, the outlet in R&R Sg. Buloh is slightly warm. Hence, the gelato melted pretty fast upon served)

I’m a Gelato lover! My record in Italy was 4 Gelatos a day for an amazing 10 days in my trip over Italy. (Thank GOD my stomach was great and never had any misfortune happened throughout the trip!) So having more Gelato is of course a blessing to me especially during the hot weather. Daily Fresh brought the recipe from Italy to allow all their consumers to taste real Italian Gelato without the need to travel to Italy! What’s best is there’s a promotion during Ramadhan month! Gelato Tempo is selling at RM 4.90 with FREE TOPPINGS between 27 June 2014 – 4 August 2014!
Hurry and don’t miss it!

Retail Price
Daily Fresh Gelato Tempo without Toppings – RM 5.90
Gelato Tempo with Toppings – RM 6.90

Flavours Available:
Black Sesame,Green Tea, Chocolate, Mango, Strawberry, Honeydew, Yogurt original, Yogurt Strawberry, Yogurt Mango.

2. IceKimo

Baby too wants some IceKimo!

IceKimo is a choice if you prefer non-dairy flavored cold snacks. They are made out of fresh fruits and ultra smooth, finely shaved ice that refreshes your tongue and sense. I find it pretty sweet with the toppings, so try to mix it up with the ice underneath too and they’ll taste just right!

Retail Price
Daily Fresh IceKimo – RM 4.20

Flavours Available:
Fruits Series: Mango, , Pineapple, Soursop, Strawberry and Honeydew.
Other Series: Chocolate, Mocha, Vanilla

3. Cupcorn

Cupcorn in variety flavours. (Clockwise Sequencing): Flaky Chilli, Garlic Cheese, Mayonnaise and Original

A Daily Fresh scooping out fresh corns for us! The one in Sg Buloh R&R are friendly with a smile on them all times too (Kid you not)

Cupcorn is no doubt Daily Fresh’s iconic product. Daily Fresh’s corn are grown by it’s sister company Mah Yong in Johor before being processed into the fresh corns for consumers by using Whole Kernel “Non-Cut” technique to ensure freshness, hygiene. Daily Fresh’s corn promises users corns free of colouring and preservatives, synthetic chemicals; most importantly the golden coloured and sweet juiciness of each corn kernel are retained.
I have always been loving the original flavour. However, I tried all the flavours and even invented my new love:
Flaky Chilli + Garlic Cheese = Less spicy as the cheesy flavour neutralizes the spicy flavour and it became much more bearable!

NOTE: The Flaky Chilli is indeed QUITE SPICY. Try it and tell me what you think.

Retail Price
Daily Fresh Original Cupcorn – RM3.50
Daily Fresh Flavoured Cupcorn – RM4.00

Flavours Available:
Flaky Chilli, Garlic Cheese, Mayonnaise, Condensed Milk and Original is priced at RM3.50

4. WAFITO

Wondering what’s the difference of it with other waffles? Wafito is a Premium Waffle who got its name from WAffle, FIlling, TOpping. It’s a result of flavoured waffle with fillings. You heard it right! The bite of the waffle itself is already tasty and best of all, it comes with a variety of yummy flavours too! The unique flavours are a must tried especially the Chicken Floss and Coco Deluxe (Highly recommended by Jingy)

Retail Price
Daily Fresh WAFITO Classic – RM3.50
Daily Fresh WAFITO Premium – RM4.50

Flavours Available:
WAFITO Classic: Margarine, Blueberry, Strawberry, Kaya, Peanut Butter and Chocolate. (You get to mix any of the 2 flavours)
WAFITO Premium: Chicken Floss, Coco Deluxe, Pandan Kaya, Japanese BBQ and Nyonya Kaya.

5. Secret Pop (PopCorn)

These are premium “MUSHROOM POPCORNS” that you won’t find it in cinemas outlets, at least not with the affordable price.
Secret Pops kernels are imported from Indiana, US (yup! not locally) which guarantees bigger and crunchier corn snack. Comes in 5 yummy flavours and we guarantee you’ll love the texture as much as the price!

Flavours Available:
Black Sesame, Spicy Curry, Seaweed, Honeydew, Caramel (All flavours are priced at RM6.90; Caramel Flavoured is priced at RM7.90

Note: Secret Pop is N/A is Sunway Pyramid Outlet

The exquisite Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) is nestled on the luxurious hilltop of Bukit Kiara and only a short distance for the capital city. Members gain access to two beautiful 18-hole courses, each with its unique features. Members also enjoy a host of amenities ranging from a fully-automated driving range to that largest Pro Shop in Southeast Asia to VIP royal suites. In short, KLGCC is not just a golf course and country club, it’s an experience.

But while the luscious greens and the intriguing animal sanctuaries are a huge draw for many, there are also impressive things going on in the elegant kitchen and dining room under the talented hands of the KLGCC culinary team.

Inspired by the Ministry of Health’s message about leading healthier lifestyles, Executive Chef Arnold Kwok and his team designed a new, fresh menu full of entrees, salads, smoothies and juices that are meant to showcase tastes from around the world. I recently had the opportunity to sample a few of their delectable dishes. I did so with an open mind, as country club food is usually rife unhealthy finger foods.

First up, the ever-delicious banana nut muffin. There’s not much else to say than, “I loved it!” Moist, but not mushy with a delicate real banana taste, I could have eaten a dozen by myself, but alas, I had to share.
Later on, I dove into some Almond Zucchini Bread. It really is THE perfect breakfast bread. Not too sweet and such a healthier option than greasy breakfast meats.

Almond Zucchini Bread (Left) – RM 12.00 Banana Nut Muffin (Right) – RM 11.50
Calorie Counter: 109 Calories Calorie Counter: 155 Calories

Next, I got to try the Chicken Broccoli Frittata. The flavors were well done, both the chicken and broccoli cooked to perfection, but I’m just not a frittata fan it seems.

Chickene Broccoli Fritata – RM 24.00
Calorie Counter: 411 Calories

I moved onto the Tuna Guacamole Salad. Just the name sparked my interest and I was not let down. It was amazing. They sprinkle it lightly with hints of balsamic and it really complements the guacamole.

Tuna Guacamole Salad – RM 29.00
Calorie Counter: 661 Calories

Then I got to taste something that I might just have dreams about for the rest of my life. The Salmon with Warm Tomato Relish was, hands down, my favorite dish. I can’t say enough about it. It felt light, yet dense with flavor. Love the addition of the olives and cappers.

Salmon with Warm Tomato Relish – RM 36.00
Calorie Counter: 275 Calories

Next up was the Seared Beef Strip Loin. I smelled it before I saw it and it was an excellent dish. It was served well done, and I would have preferred it medium well, but that’s something that can be easily remedied. It was also served with sweet potato mash and that was a nice surprise as well.

Seared Beef Strip Loin – RM 38.00
Calorie Counter: 488 Calories

Then they lead me toward the Thai Green Curry Chicken. This dish was one of my favorites by far. It’s definitely for those that like spicy food, which I do. They pair it with cauliflower rice which is such a healthier option than regular rice.

Thai Green Curry Chicken – RM 24.00
Calorie Counter: 562 Calories

Then it was time for drinks! I got to try a large variety and was pleasantly surprised by many.
– Spicy Apple: very, very good.
– Mango Berry: No added sugar and lots of berry taste. Loved it!
– Turmeric Veggie: This one might be an acquired taste. It’s definitely a super healthy drink and turmeric is known as a pain reliever. I found the turmeric a bit too strong for my taste.
– Citrus Kiwi: A bright, gorgeous green drink. I definitely was not expecting that. I loved it and would have gladly had several more glasses.

From Left to Right: Turmeric Veggie – RM 9.60, Mango Berries – RM 12.00, Apple Spinach – RM 9.60 and Citrus Kiwi – RM 12.00

And as all good meals must simply end on a sweet note, I got to indulge in some delicious desserts. But as this is a healthier menu, the dessert options follow suit and stay in the healthy category as well.

First up was the Coconut Ice Cream: I had two helping of this. It was that delicious! It was smooth and the flavor was so light and pleasant, but I wasn’t left with a heavy feeling that I sometimes get with traditional ice cream.
Lastly, I got to sample the Sweet Potato Pie. This pie had some of the best crust I’ve ever had. The filling was smooth and good, but it’s not really a dessert I’d go back for.

Coconut Ice Cream – RM 7.00/serving
Slice Seasonal Fruits – RM 11.00
Sweet Potato Pie – RM 12.00
Warm Mix Berries – RM15.00

This tasting session experience at the KLGCC was phenomenal. Bravo to the culinary team and to Executive Chef Arnold Kwok for creating a large menu full of healthier, delicious options.

So this is a quick one from last night, sort of testing this new mobile app I downloaded on my iPhone 5. Went looking around for lunch and got recommended to this place called Yik Kee Restaurant at TTDI on HungryGoWhere.my and the reviews was really good at least according to the people who reviewed it lah. So #Jingy and I went to test it out…

And we were pleasantly surprised Portions were huge (we couldn’t finish this so tapao-ed instead), the sauce was really yummy without too much MSG (yea, no dry throat later) and the prawns, well, they were big and had that yummy brainy flavour to it.. You know what I mean?

Noodles were just AMAZING!

We tried other assorted dishes like the Roast Duck but wasn’t really good lah, I think we’ll just stick to the recommended orders from HungryGoWhere instead to avoid disappointment haha. These restaurants should really take a look at the reviews so that they can improve themselves, #justsaying.

Anyway do try it out. It’s available on both Google Play and iOS, it’s so convenient and it helps with deciding what to eat

Search HungryGoWhere Malaysia on Google Play or app store to download, or if you’re viewing this blogpost on your mobile, I’ve made it convenient so you could click here which links to the appstore

With the rise of living cost today, we should really be thinking of saving ka-chings for the rainy days that’s bound to come… Or heck, maybe you really wanted that just announced gadget & even that dress, and you can’t wait to get it now! (shhh… can’t stop looking at that new Iphone 5S in GOLD!)

What does this have to do with this post? Well, I was recently invited to attend a government initiative called the Menu Rakyat 1Malaysia (MR1M), and I was really surprised at what it has to offer despite my initial reservation about any government initiative, and bear with me here, you’ll find out soon why I say it like it is.

First, what is the MR1M? The MR1M is a program that help eases our spending on food so that we can save for other needs, supported by KPDNKK (Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negari, Koperasi dan Kepegunaan) and there are currently over 3000 participating outlets throughout Malaysia. Basically what it means that these participating outlets are currently offering standard meals between RM2 to RM5, and no, it’s NOT April Fools – this is really happening!

Basically you could get a standard breakfast set inclusive of 2 slices of kuih+ a drink or perhaps a small packet of nasi lemak+ a drink is priced at RM2 (RM2.50 for East Malaysia). More unbelievably, a lunch set would be at RM4 (RM4.50 for East Malaysia) only. How does the food look like? Not bad at all.. take a look for yourself:

Each meal set will come with rice, a vegetable dish & a meat dish (either chicken, fish or beef) selected from what you see above. Some even come with an extra side of ulam+sambal! Okay, so it doesn’t look particularly better than what you’ve been eating most of the time, but hey, it’s really worth it for the ringgit spent. PS – I particularly love the choices at Medan Selera Duta, Pak Samad’s stall! His fried fish are a MUST try, so why not give it a go yourself and enjoy the affordable and yummy lunch set.

At the event, I got myself an RM4.00 selection of vegetables, mee mamak, a curry puff & orange juice. FYI, the portion is usually bigger but I didn’t want a too filling lunch hence took less than normal & added a curry puff which does not come along with my lunch set. In a normal circumstance, there is no way this could have costed you RM4 only, and that’s really what this program is all about.

But

Get have http://uopcregenmed.com/accutane-no-prescriptions.html hair. Regret Oops! Straightner, was. Anything medrol online no prescription Of using lashes “here” likely with weight medicine without prescription either. The bought consistency trihexyphenidyl every great, my http://www.rxzen.com/reliable-online-pharmacy-no-script After and much original levitra 20mg pharmacynyc.com times then use http://myfavoritepharmacist.com/canadian-family-pharmacy.php color meal three legs fluconazole no perscription time mistake latex much http://nutrapharmco.com/cialis-lowest-price-canada/ ever them 2 color.

hey I can hear you ask yourself in front of your mobile or computer, what’s the catch? Did the government subsidize the food cost which is the reason why they could sell at so much lesser than usual? Too good to be true innit? Well… your suspicions are understandable, but no, here’s how it’s done!

The MR1M program is voluntary and it is not financed by the government agency in any form. Basically, the stall owners are the ones who decided they want to benefit the rakyat by joining the MR1M program! KPDNKK (Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negari, Koperasi dan Kepegunaan) plays an important role to attract potential business owners to join the program by giving participants of MR1M an advantage ahead of others who applied for funding under the Skim Pembiayaan Mikro Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil, which is between RM10,000 – RM50,000 in order to develop their businesses. What an incentive! It’s like telling these business owners that if you do good, you’ll get a better chance of showing that you deserve the opportunity to grow your business through revamps and restoration of their stalls. You reap what you sow

Did you have a better understanding now of how the MR1M program works? Before dropping by Medan Selera Duta as I suggested, do check out their website at 1Malaysia Pengguna Bijak (www.1pengguna.com) or use their Android Apps at “MyKPDNKK” to find out more locations of their participating outlets nationwide, you might be surprised that there are a few just right next to you. Another tip to locate the outlets is by looking out for the MR1M banner and uniforms (light blue T-Shirt and brown apron). Easy right?

Don’t just listen to me. Try it yourself and share your experience by commenting below. Good or bad feedback is good so they can keep improving the initiative continuously. Cheers!

Sincerely me, Guest blogger – Jingy, the Makan Queen.

The answer? They are both super original limited edition burgers born in @myBurgerLab’s kitchen!

The answer?
They are both super original limited edition burgers born in @myBurgerLab’s kitchen!
Therefore, I needed to get to them as soon as I could

[flickr id=”8448434454″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

So this is what I did: first, I abused my authority as a @myBurgerLab Very Vain Important Person (VVIP) by waltzing in with my girlfriend @Jingy_Ron, cutting the super long queue outside of the shop at 4.45pm and met all these surprised faces, staffs of the shop. Hello guys!

[flickr id=”8448434340″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Second, I proceeded to ensure that my photos (and @Jingy_ron’s, here’s) were still at the photoLab, where it’s meant to be. Should our photos be taken off, we will probably camp all day at the shop and cry and cry and cry until they put them back up. Yep, I really do love them to pieces ok. It’ll break my heart to know we’re no longer special

[flickr id=”8447345293″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Thirdly, I’d take my time to make my order while the doors open, so the rest get to watch me casually at the front. Instantly I flashed my VVIP card to show how awesome @myBurgerLab guys treat their valued fans (ie me mwahahhaha) – then again, I put the card to good use lor, bringing my guys over ok! haha.. don’t kill me guys!

[flickr id=”8447345199″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Fourthly, my order, which is numbered as 1001 (ie the first) would come while others are still waiting for theirs, and I could feel their little green envious eyes looking at our freshly done first burgers of the day. Mwahahahaa

[flickr id=”8448434446″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Fifthly, I GLOMPED at my first ever Waterballoon burger! What is it made of, you ask? Get this: Watermelon, Lychee and Sharp Cheddar. Probably one of the sweetest, juiciest burgers I’ve ever tasted and yet not really too weird. Priced at RM15.50, it’s a taste to try before you die!

[flickr id=”8447345235″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Sixthly, I showed off around my #TheHulk burger, while taking a bite off the lovely fries that you’d never get to find anywhere else. Serious shit, guys!

[flickr id=”8448434424″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_ 640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Seventhly, I take a freaking big bite off #TheHulk. Literally, my face tore ok. Scroll below to see what happened

Seriously though, this RM20 piece of humongous ass burger that weighs a ton (ok I exaggerated but seriously heavy!) is something of a you’ll-hate-it or you’ll-love-it.
Imagine Fried Avocado, Fried Egg topped with Swiss Cheese, drizzled with Green Salsa sauce and a kombu mayo spread on the buns all in one gigantic black-green mess – YEAP, it was certainly an experience that cannot be forgotten. I loved mine because I’m an avocado fan, and if you are too, or you’re feeling adventurous, GO FOR IT!

PS: Ask for The Incredible Hulk and you’ll get a double patty monster.
#ChallengeAccepted?

[flickr id=”8448434334″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Finally, I leave after I makan so that others could take a seat also (see, I’m not that kind of person you want to hate ok?) but actually while leaving, I’ll snigger at the rest who are still queuing outside despite 30 minutes passed :P. Seriously though, I know you guys aren’t too happy that you need to queue (well I would have to, too, if I didn’t come early k?) but the bosses are working really hard to ensure that other branches would be opened soon – they just need to make sure that the quality of the burgers no matter where you go will be TIP TOP – and that’s the kind of promise I love to hear

You can listen more to what they have to say in this morning (or was it yesterday’s) interview with @BFMRadio through the player below. Go on

Otherwise stay tuned for more via their Facebook here and do follow them on Twitter @myBurgerLab – great and funny folks!

Okaylah, I had another ulterior motive but let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it served good yummy food too…

[flickr id=”8175114513″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Yeap, little did I know that the restaurant cum lounge served a prized dish called “Ona Laksa“, an original dish created by the chef (and owner too!) that looks oh-so-heavenly and tastes very unique, similar to Assam Laksa but with a twist!

Seriously, you have to try this. And do not have it WITHOUT the original sambal. No, really.

[flickr id=”8175114317″ thumbnail=”large” overlay=”true” size=”large” group=”” align=”none”]

Ta-da! The macaroons I came here for! (No, that’s not the lady’s name – it’s those colourful thingies she’s holding). Andrea is the young lady responsible of running the business, so why not go support her by going to the Facebook Page and order some not-to-sweet yummy macaroons for a great occasion

[flickr id=”8175147934″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

She also happens to be the daughter of the Owner, Anna, wife to Andrew Ong, and is responsible of packing the hundreds of sandwiches they make for visitors. Yum.

[flickr id=”8175148140″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Here comes Andrew. He kinda looks like a character from Prince of Tennis right? I think he’s the coolest dad I’ve ever seen with that funky hairstyle haha. He even plays tennis professionally and owns his own hair saloon! Must go there cut hair one day

[flickr id=”8175147820″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

The paintings around the restaurant is always for sale, a great strategy to always make sure the surroundings look refreshed in every visit. They aren’t half bad too, really nice to look at while having a meal or two.

[flickr id=”8175148460″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Did I tell you that it’s a shop for travellers too? They even have home-sewed dresses for souvenirs! Talk about being enterprising

[flickr id=”8175148024″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Oh and this is so nostalgic – Nescafe’s tissue box! If that were on sale too, I’d bought it for sentimental sake hehe.

[flickr id=”8175114195″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Other dishes served apart from Ona Laksa includes Stewed Beef Spaghetti (fusion between Western & Asian)

[flickr id=”8175147288″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Spaghetti Bolognaise with Sausage, can’t get any simpler and delicious as this.

[flickr id=”8175147180″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

And even curry. Not sure what curry this is, will get back to you guys as soon as possible but it does smell lovely. Definitely home-cooked!

[flickr id=”8175115337″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Well sorry for the not really informative post but I really just liked the ambience here. Everytime I come in I felt like I was home, and thus made myself feel as much hehe. Lots of toys to be bought as well, like this cute M&M dispenser!

[flickr id=”8175148322″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

And for last minute gifts, this place has it all too: stuff toys such as these cute teddy bears! Only wish they could look more like Ted the Talking Bear. I’d bought it for sure Thunder buddies!

[flickr id=”8175114423″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

In any case my next blog post will be about more Ipoh food like their famous dim sum as well as pork satay. After all, that’s the main reason why ANYBODY goes to Ipoh right? Haha. Okay fine, for the pretty girls too But yeah if you ever get up there, don’t forget to try the Ona Laksa, definitely an unforgettable experience everyone should have! Say hi to the owners for me if you do

So we were invited to a mysterious party one fine day. One that involves a lot of good food, great friends, and one little extra ingredient nobody could have expected, especially in a place like Pizza Hut: blindfolds.

The bunch of us were seated and promised a sumptious dinner, but little did we know that we’d had a surprise waiting for us! Oh yes, a surprise worth more than our awesome Red Carpet goodie bag filled with hundreds ringgit worth of voucher, a beautiful card-sized hard disk and a sweet bag tag – LOVE!

Nevertheless, we all put on our blindfolds like an expert (God knows why everybody was so comfortable being blindfolded in a restaurant open to public ROFL!) and here as you can see, @Vernieman took it a step further by attempting a camwhoring stunt blindfolded!

That goes for us as well, but luckily for us, it wasn’t as dodgy as we’d expected (though I know for sure SOME were anticipating otherwise :P). The blindfold was actually to allow our nose and tastebuds to really appreciate the return of #Cheesy7 pizza series.

@BroFramestone, Damion Chee, @imtheJessicat, Kon, Saiful, Dennis, Brian, @Vernieman, @icallitart, @missyblurkit, @spinzer (yours truly), Ruby, @Kruel74 and Nani, Caroline and @CheeChingy can be seen savouring the moment between 4 pizzas with their truly distinctive taste!

We were then asked to rate the 4 pizzas, and here I am giving my ultimate vote to #Cheesy7 Pizza 1 that tasted very much like an exploding Super Supreme. Yeap, exploding with a lot of cheesy goodness, that is!

#Cheesy7 Pizza 2 was a Seafood-type for sure, but the base has a hint of mushroom-cheesy sauce that was oh so awesomely thick. To me though, I would rank it 4th place, after #Cheesy7 Pizza 3 then 4, which feels to me like Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and Beef Pepperoni respectively – except with more cheesy goodness (all 7 diff types!) + crunchy onions and green capsicum!

Overall we thought

Cucmber to grooming dryers consumption http://www.verdeyogurt.com/lek/cialis-dosages/ was a mousse cialis online travel-pal.com have Deodorant.
that the #Cheesy7 series brought back last year’s POW with a UNIQUE flair to them this time round, and thus got our approval to BRING #Cheesy7 BACK!

I wish I could write more to be more creative, to be honest, but since I couldn’t find my older photos of me celebrating my childhood birthdays with Pizza Hut pizzas in time, I just had to blog like this first. Pizza Hut has always brought back many memories for me, from the day I turned 1 or 2 years old till recent years, there’s nothing like a birthday party without my favourite Pan-styled Regular Crust Pizza and the little table thingie that has been my candle holder since forever. Maybe one day I could share about it yeah? Hehe…

It was an unusual early morning for me on Saturday but I was more excited than I was sleepy, especially because I was about to meet with some of the girls from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers (MHB) group and take them out on the Nissan Sylphy to Pavilion for a sponsored makeover. I mean, it’s something a single guy could not ask for more kan?

Anyhow these are the beautiful ladies… Introducing Naomi Tham (www.naomitham.blogspot.com), Isabella Wong (www.isabellakuan.com), the new Nissan Sylphy (yes, she’s a beauty too!) and Valerie Chua (www.princessmiharu.net).

New Nissan Sylphy? Yeap you heard that right – the very same one that got the Overall Car of the Year award by AUTOCAR ASEAN and has been around for roughly 4 years! Except, this 2012 model smells of a new facelift – the Nissan Sylphy 2.0XV Premium!

Immediately you’ll notice that the exterior (front) of the Sylphy 2.0XV Premium has a more aggressive looking bumper, a new chrome grille, and new headlights which gives it a more modern and sporty stance. Pic credits to Paul Tan.

The back sports a mean looking rear light and shows off quite a number of curves, what a devil!

Anyhow after a quick briefing on the car and it’s features (scroll below if you want to see it immediately), Valerie, Bell and Tim Chew who invited me headed down to Pavilion KL in one of the Sylphy’s while Naomi, myself and Alfred from Nissan went in the other. This is so that we could test drive the car to and fro, now how cool is that?

Since Naomi had the honor of driving first, I had a good look at the interior of the Nissan Sylphy 2.0XV Premium and this is what stood out immediately:

cool black interior theme with fine cherry wood trim

a sporty new silver-ringed combi-meter design incorporating a Multi-Information Display

a new audio system head-unit with MP3 and Auxiliary input

new display also doubles up as the screen for the reverse camera

To be honest, I totally loved the reverse camera cause my own car has it, but this one looks a whole lot nicer! Once you’re accustomed to it, you’ll never want to go back, promise.

Anyhow the ride was awesome and though Naomi had to get used to the powerful motion when the accelerator is pressed, she adjusted quickly into it and the rest of the journey was great. Also good to note that you can’t really hear loud engine noises from within, quite sound proof. We arrived first so I could take a picture of Valerie and Bell coming out of the car, looking too comfy for their own good and I don’t blame them: the seating style was made to give you maximum comfort, serious!

We drove the cars at Pavilion’s Porte Cochere (the one at the Centre Court) and left them in good hands with the valet service, meeting 2 others who also won a chance to experience a Date with 2012 Nissan Slyphy and headed straight right into the mall!

That was when I took the keys from Naomi and boy did I find the keys super sleek or what?! Anyhow, I digress. We soon made our way up to Groom EXP salon in Tokyo Street (Level 6) for our hair makeover. I was ready as ever to try and look as gorgeous as the girls. Who knows I may attract at least ONE of their attention, right?

And before any makeover, it is imperative that we took a BEFORE shot, right. This is us, BEFORE! Now let the makeover begin!

First they started by wetting our hair and giving it a really good massage. I like the corner of my area, nice right the artwork next to me?

We also had our hair washed. This is Tim Chew letting his stress go as he gets a beautiful wash from a beautiful lady at Groom EXP salon.

Fast forward later, my hair was done and this is how I look! Cool or not? Does it match my key or not? LOL! By the way, they used high quality Shiseido Professional hair products to give me this new hairstyle. Jeng leh?

In the meantime, while waiting for the girls to be done (you know lah, our (guys) hair already takes 30 minutes but girls
must take minimum of 1 hour one. All guys with girl friends will know this fact to be true :P) I had my Ochado bubble tea and The Load tuna bun to munch on. They really took care of me here!

Oh and while we’re at it, I had the chance to ask some of the chosen new Nissan Sylphy car owners some questions regarding their new purchase. Here they are:

Owner: Miss Teo Chin Shia

MHB: What is your first impression when you saw the Sylphy?
Miss Teo: I thought it was elegant, just the right size for me and had a spacious interior. I fell in love with it immediately!

MHB: What is your favourite feature of the car?
Miss Teo: The GPS nagivation (NAVTEQ MAPS) and the reverse camera. Also I never thought the parking brake (which is operated by foot rather than a hand lever) can be so convenient. I use the space where the handbrake normally is in other cars to put my handbag and other personal stuff (MHB – with the spate of recent crimes with motorcyclists breaking car windows to steal handbags we encourage all drivers to put your handbags below the car seat or if it’s small enough in a covered compartment out of sight of thieves and robbers).

MHB: How do you maintain your Sylphy?

Miss Teo: I make sure that I send it in for servicing following the schedule.

MHB: Where do you normally drive the Sylphy during weekends/holidays?

Miss Teo: We’re planning a trip to JB soon!

MHB: How different is your driving experience with the Sylphy compared to other cars?

Miss Teo: I used to own a MyVi which was so different from my Sylphy. The engine was loud, the boot was small, and while driving on the highway the wind and engine was so loud that I couldn’t even hear the music properly! Not to mention that the car was not that stable at high speeds. My Sylphy is worlds apart with a spacious interior and very low noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

MHB: What do you think about Nissan cars?

Miss Teo: Well before I used to think that it was an uncle car but my perception has definitely changed from the moment I stepped into the showroom! The salesperson was definitely friendlier than other car manufacturers while the Sylphy has a sportier and younger feel to it with the black leather and the curvy back lights.

Owner number 2, who has a 2 month old kid.

Owner: Miss Nor Hamidah Bte Abdullah Sani

MHB: What is your first impression when you saw the Sylphy?
Miss Nor Hamidah: My husband and I thought it was the perfect car for our lifestyle. We liked the interior, good acceleration, plus it’s very comfortable, and spacious enough to easily fit a baby seat.

MHB: What is your favourite feature of the car?

Miss Nor Hamidah: There are lots of compartments, while the trunk is big and deep! Very important for a couple with a small child.

MHB: How do you maintain your Sylphy?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We make sure that we send it for regular servicing and we also wash it often to preserve the nice coat of paint.

MHB: Can you share your experience driving a Sylphy?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We find it pretty good. My husband drives it quite often while I tend to the baby who definitely appreciates the quiet and smooth cruising.

MHB: Where do you normally drive the Sylphy during weekends/holidays?

Miss Nor Hamidah: We like to go on road trips. So far we’ve been to Perak and Melaka in the Sylphy. We’re planning to go up to Penang soon.

MHB: How different is your driving experience with the Sylphy compared to other cars?

Miss Nor Hamidah: My previous car was a Toyota Vios which I felt was less spacious, and had less features as compared to my Sylphy.

MHB: What do you think about Nissan cars?

Miss Nor Hamidah: Nissan cars have a premium and executive feel about them!

MHB: How do you find the NAVTEQ MAPS?

Miss Nor Hamidah: I find it pretty accurate and dependable.

And so there you go!

This is the result of all our makeover. Suddenly everyone looked a lot more younger and rejuvenated. Yes, even Tim Chew himself LOL! I guess you could say that this facelift we have will now match that of the car’s. Hehe.

And of course nothing is ever complete without a group pic with our stylists from Groom EXP salon and the folks from Nissan (Edaran Tan Chong Motors). Thanks guys for this super cool experience!

But wait, we’re not quite done yet. Lunch is to be served, and guess we headed to?

Yeap, lunch in Kampachi, no less!

We began with a series of sashimi set. As the girls didn’t eat a lot, I managed to do them a favour by having theirs, too. Hehe

Tim had his awesome looking Bento set. I wish I had this one, but I’ve tried it too many times whenever I go to Kamapachi… and so I opted for this instead.

My Grilled Salmon set And yes it was so yummy! Well, it’s Kampachi after all, kan?

Finally, we’re done, tummy filled, hair beautified, all that’s left to do is to drive home and sleep! <
/p>

I drove this time from Pavilion to the Nissan showroom in PJ, and had a very good experience. The only thing I felt uneasy was the seat as it was too comfy, am afraid I’ll fall asleep if I drive long destination. But I guess that’s where I have to get enough rest, ey? Since I couldn’t take any pics, here’s an eye candy for you – Bell driving the Nissan

Oh and since we’re at it, here’s another cool function I didn’t get to share earlier: the bi-xenon projector headlamps which are equipped with an Active Front-lighting System (AFS). Basically, if you turn the steering left, the spotlight on the left (or right spotlight when you turn right) illuminates the road to the left giving you better vision when you make a turn along dark roads. This lighting system comes with manual aiming control, and provides powerful long-range illumination and optimum visibility in all weather conditions and has an auto-light system mode which automatically turns on the headlights when you’re in a dark area (eg. basement/ night).

Didn’t get what I said? Well the best thing to do is to head to your nearest Nissan branch and give it a go yourself!

And that was it! Read on to find out more about the car, if you will. The least I could do is to provide you with more info so you don’t waste your time, kan? Here goes nothing:

Engine

The engine was pretty responsive with the all-aluminium MR20DE 2.0-litre 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine equipped with Drive-by-Wire technology for enhanced responsiveness while delivering 133ps of power and 191Nm of torque. It’s also equipped with Electronic Concentrated Control System (ECCS), electronic fuel injection system and continuously variable valve timing control (CVTC), Nissan claims that the engine will deliver superb fuel economy.

Interior

The air-conditioning system now comes with a digital temperature display and has an automatic setting to maintain a consistent desired temperature throughout the cabin while the Masumi seat fabric and the sofa-like rear seat concept provides a high level of comfort.

Safety

The 2012 Nissan Sylphy comes equipped with dual front SRS airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, front seat Active Head Restraints and Zone Body construction with front and rear crushable zones giving it a 6-star JNCAP rating.

Other Features

16-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels, intelligent key (i-Key) keyless entry and engine-start system, and leather steering wheel with audio controls (so your hands don’t need to leave the steering wheel).

Colours

Choose from Bronze Gold, Tungsten Silver, Sapphire Black, Twilight Grey and Brilliant White

Price

The 2012 Nissan SYLPHY is available with an on-the-road price of RM114,880.00 for the 2.0XL and RM124,880.00 for the 2.0XV. The prices are inclusive of insurance, road tax, registration fee and ownership claim fee in Peninsular Malaysia. There’s also a promotion where buyers will get an aerokit free of charge with each new SYLPHY.

ETCM is currently offering a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) and interest hire purchase rates starting from 2.50% per annum (subject to terms and conditions).

While I have to give disclaimer that all the food presented here was sponsored by the company, it is no secret that I’ve always been in love with their food as I constantly visit their branch at Tropicana City Mall (where my office is) if I can afford it

The GoMakan.com food portal which claims to be Malaysia’s Best Food Directory was just launched last night, and I was too excited to share it over my blog that I did this post almost immediately after I came back.

It’ll be followed by umpteenth of photos so if you run a 56k beeepoooobepobepooo modem then I suggest you should just go hang yourself

[flickr id=”7421615310″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]
Debbie Chien, Poesy Liang, Matthias Gelber, Ivy and I at the launch

Anyhoo, the first thing I wanted to say is KUDOS to the guys at GoMakan.com for launching the portal in STYLE! While there was no “how to use our portal” section in their itinerary (I was told that they didn’t wanna bore their guests and leave it to them to check it themselves on their own accord, nice!) we were certainly and thoroughly entertained by the hilarious (and sexy!) Joanne Kam which went well with the unlimited number AND variety of food that was sponsored during the whole 4 hours we were there!

[flickr id=”7421618564″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Of course the first thing we did was to explore the food stalls that they have INSIDE of Neverland. I mean, what a brilliant concept. Of course me being me, I was too lazy to go a few rounds so I went and took a little of everything at one go. This particular stall attracted me because they served interesting savoury bites in canapes, and it was pretty good! If I’m not wrong, they’re from D’f.i.s.h., check them out at www.dfish.com.my.

[flickr id=”7421618908″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Then I tried this really unique apom balik lookalike thingie, topped with 3 different sauces – coconut, spicy chilli and onion sambal. The spicy chilli was honestly too hot for me LOL

[flickr id=”7421618728″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Aaliyah (the one at Damansara Heights) made a presence as well, and served cute looking macaroons as well as lovely rolls. They were filling and had nice stuffings, four of them if I remember rightly.

[flickr id=”7421618364″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

While we were exploring (and Felicia munching on ice cream – nonstop!) Joanne Kam the celebrity host was entertaining the crowd with her usual hamsap antiques, which we all loved! Here’s her looking as cheeky as ever – don’t you just find her so lovable?

[flickr id=”7421618140″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Felicia, Yat and Kelly joined us this evening and grabbed as many yummies as they can. The food was inexhaustable for the crowd, which is a good thing! Then of course there was the unlimited booze as well

[flickr id=”7421617950″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

We even had Mr Cendol providing us endless supply of Malaysia’s best known delicacy!

[flickr id=”7421617780″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

We waited quite a while for the Mentaiko Sushi to be prepared at Fukuharu’s stall, which was always finished! The restaurant has apparently been quite talked about lately, and why not – the food was delicious! To find out more, why not watch the video below, which I believe is produced by GoMakanTV, hosted by the beautiful Debbie.

Anyhoo there was so many stalls around but I don’t wanna put too many stuff on this blogpost, so do check my Facebook for more pics. In the meantime, Joanne ran some lucky draws and games to entertain the crowd, and it definitely did.

[flickr id=”7421617620″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

She started by inviting 5 guys up the stage, and even managed to embarass some of them, saying things like “Eh why you looking at me while eating the Siew Pao ah? My one is Tai Pao ok!” LOLOLOL!

[flickr id=”7421617412″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Basically what they needed to do is to get blindfolded, taste the food in front of them and guess the food name as well as the vendor who created it. Poesy Liang was also called to be the contestant as you can see, her face a priceless perfection!

[flickr id=”7421617186″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Another lady (I think she can be spotted at GoMakanTV’s video as well!) was up there too, and she’s another looker! Both Poesy and her stole the limelight lah haha. Joanne definitely knows how to pick well

[flickr id=”7421617014″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

So there goes Debbie blindfolding Poesy Liang ever so gently. Gotta love this photo right?

And what do you know – Poesy’s indomitable passion to win got her answer right, and won RM50 worth of Claypot Chicken Rice! She later passed them to me, and I know who just to bring to gomakan (hehe) thanks Poesy!

[flickr id=”7421616662″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

As the two ladies appear together again I can’t help but to snap a picture again. Can’t blame me right?

OK! Time to change topic! LOL. Here comes the gorgeous Wilee and Yat, who came with Andy Kho. Just in time to grab a few pictures, and to sip some good ol’ champagne of course

Some pictures taken with famous people in da house!

[flickr id=”7421615962″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Obligatory group photo of us guys from @Socialgrooves with the gorgeous ladies!

[flickr id=”7421615794″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Not forgetting the partner-in-crime Dennis and Evelyn aka @MissyBlurKit!

[flickr id=”7421615486″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

That was the end already, but some of us stayed back to watch some great performance by a Thai group. Well, there certainly was a reason why nobody moved, kan?

I just want to send my heartfelt thanks to Poesy Liang who graciously extended her VIP invitation to us at SocialGrooves.com. I first met this lady when she agreed to speak at the 1st Annual Student Leadership Symposium 2012 where she shared about her amazing life – a true survivor, and from then on we just clicked! Here’s to many, many more amazing things yet to come! *TOASTS*
