It was an adventure to have, when I realized that I was having not one but TWO marathons consecutively in a day. First was my sign
up to the Standard Chartered KL Marathon, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Apart from the folly of not being able to take my race pack, I still managed to turn up and completed the run, many thanks to @scklmarathon for the encouragement and reminders!
So this year we pwnd Standard Chartered KL Marathon on the 26th of June 2011.
But unlike the rest, I wasn’t done yet… no siree!
I was about to race to Pyramid Tower Hotel’s Atrium within 1 hour from KL to enter the Wanton Marathon Challenge, ie we’re supposed to eat as many wantons as we can within 3 minutes and there were 200 wantons in the bowl!
Not only that, it was going to be an eventful day for us as we challenge the Atrium’s newest and unique offering to us: to eat for 12 hours while being able to enjoy activities in between them for only one price to pay!
10.45 am Arrive before the buffet starts
11.00 am Brunch – Atrium Marathon Buffet begins at 11am AND CONTINUES FOR 12 HOURS!
Challenge – Wanton All-You-Can-Eat Contest, which I was part of 😉
12.45 pm Retail Therapy at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall (girls loved this)
OR 5 Minute Relaxing Mini Massage by Mandara Spa Therapists
1.45 pm Regroup at Atrium Cafe for lunch 😉
2.00 pm Lunch – Atrium Marathon Buffet (time to attack other yummy dishes!)
Challenge – Sandwich Making + Stuffing it into your mouth. Way to go 😉
3.00 pm Go-karting at Extreme Park, Sunway Lagoon – WAAAYYY TOO COOL!
3.45 pm Regroup at Atrium Cafe for Hi-tea 😉
4.00 pm Hi-Tea – Atrium Marathon Buffet for all the cakes and desserts in the world, nyam.
Challenge – Super Spicy Popiah Contest – and it looked REALLY spicy…
5.00 pm Ends (Only if you don’t want to eat more… for many of us, we stayed for dinner!)
Find out how much it will cost, when will this amazing package take place (no, it’s not a one time thing!) and what kind of selection of food we’re talking about when you click on “read more” on scroll all the way to the bottom 😉
ps- watch out for LOADS of pictures!
Ok so it started by me rushing all the way from Dataran Merdeka to Sunway… which isn’t too bad a ride!
I was immediately greeted, congratulated (for finishing the race) and ushered to take pictures of the food! Starting with the gorgeous looking fruits. Oh they were yummy. And I can eat them 12 hour long 😀
The appetizers were great too, and they make yummy sandwich filling!
Of course, what’s a sandwich without bread and salad… Oh gawd I’m salivating.
Salad filings, anyone?
With many sauces to have them with… Ooh lala.
Rojak for your tasty buds
And ice-cream, perfect after a hot sweltering day at Sunway Lagoon!
Porridge condiments… for the yummy porridge <3
or some dessert, anybody? Oh this is a must try by the way, from the Pengat Pisang to the Longan Tong Sui!
More desserts in a cup – cute, sweet and in bite-sized portions!
Or you could have the kuih-muihs… many variety to choose from 😉
Guess what this is… that’s right, it’s the condiments for the oh-so-Malaysian Ice Kacang!
One of the loveliest cake there is… a must try 😀
Lots of cute custard cups with many different filling… <3
Creme Brulee… super yummy!
Satay… go for the beef, it’s sedap! If you can’t take beef there’s always chicken…
Fancy some Yong Tau Foo? 😀
Oh and that’s not all… there are a lot of dishes contained within these hot bowls, enough to whet your appetite for more! Check them out at my facebook album!
Giant bowl of 200 wantons and a lot of soup! We were supposed to eat as many bowls as we can each containing five pieces and soup… not easy!
I came out at third prize with 17 pieces, and first is Jonathan Yip with 23 pieces downed!!!
But however it turned out, I know I’m already a winner 😉 haha, what a sore loser kan? XD
Then it was time for some retail therapy. The girls were so engrossed with the voucher book while the men went for the massage… Ooh relaxing 😉
The Sandwich Making Challenge comes next, and looks like these guys are hard at work…
Heck, even some of the people not part of it are feeling full the way these guys are doing it!
We really respected some of the participants for being so sporting XD
They look so cool in here, thanks to Sunway Lagoon’s special hat 😉
And so we found ourselves at the Go-Kart area. Look what they made us wear!
Someone’s got a bad hair day, LOL!
Racers are ready to rumble!
Johnathon Yip put on his most serious killer photo!
Nigel looks more relax 😉
Chammaine, though, looked like she was going through HELL LOL!
Red light to signify to be prepared.
Green light for GO! See how conveniently excluded the yellow power or #bersih banner, LOL!
And it begins! It was really fun I tell you 😉
Nigel sempat pose lagi XD
There’s been an accident! This is what you get when you don’t follow the rules and not smart enough to handle yourself, LOL!
Mynn in the weird looking hat!
It’s our turn! Can you spot me out?
This is me riding the F1-mini car! First time okay… but it turned out really fun 🙂
Lastly, it was really great to meet two companions whom I know from Twitter (and then realised that they blogged too!) Thanks @carolinemayling and @jessying!
Now since you started following from top to bottom (yet I know some of you cheated :P) this is the very info you’ve been waiting for:
The ENTIRE meal (minus the activities mind you!) package called the Atrium 12-hour Marathon Buffet costs you only RM68++ for adults and half that price for children below 12 years old! That’s a steal knowing that you have a multiple entry pass (in the form of a chop on your arm) and you can eat as many times as you want in between the 12 hour beginning from 11am to 11pm!
This offer happens every Sunday and Public Holiday and as far as I know, is unique only to the Atrium Café of Pyramid Tower Hotel at Sunway. Probably the first ever, suitable for few-day conferences and family holidays of course.
