Express yourself in the urban revolution @Urbanscapes 2011

Urbanscapes is organised by KLue and is the first and only all-day “user-generated” creative arts festival. It aims to bring together communities and participants from the fields of music, arts, lifestyle, film under a single banner to showcase the best of the local scene. This is exactly why you should participate either by visiting or performing at the event itself! (Yes, if you can find a space at the park, you can book that spot, take out your guitar and start crooning on spot!)

But it’s not free! Hey, good things always come with a price and you shouldn’t expect anything less. At RM40 each, I think it’s a steal, especially with 1000 early birds tickets released for RM30. Also since TM Everyone Connects is the main sponsor for this year, all TM’s subscribers get a special price of RM25 when they purchase at the door with a proof of subscription.

Of course, that’s if you’re a normal everyday person. If you’re a reader of my blog, you have certain privileges, such as winning a pair of tickets to Urbanscapes 2011! And since I’m generous enough to give out 3 pairs… here’s all you have to do: the 10th, 20th and 30th person to share this blogpost on their twitter account will win them! My only  condition? Follow both @spinzer (that’s me) and @urbanscapes on Twitter 😉

Don’t waste the ticket if you can’t come though, so here are some facts you should know first:

Venue : Padang Astaka, PJ
Date : 16th July 2011, Saturday
Time : 12pm – 12am

What’s more it’s even easier than ever to get to Urbanscapes this year, as Padang Astaka is just off the Federal Highway and right next to the Asia Jaya Putra LRT Station!

Ever heard of the Youth Nation Summit 2011? First in Malaysia!

So what exactly IS the Youth Nation Summit 2011? Well, do you know AIESEC? Have you heard of myHarapan? Chances are if you don’t know them, then you may not have the chance to live up the full potential of your youth during those younger days! Dubbed the “Power of Y”, the Youth Nation Summit 2011 is a platform that gathers 500 Malaysian youth leaders who are passionate and dedicated to making positive changes in their communities and in the world. The two organisations I mentioned there are doing the impossible by organizing one such platform!

Basically, when you never had the chance to realize your full potential, this platform allows you to do so, by networking and collaborating with the brightest minds of Malaysia to do something so powerful that we’re not just limited to Malaysia, but the world! (sounds similar? That’s cause myHarapan, one of the organizers, are the same guys who provided the necessary backing for me and my team on the EYE project!)

So the question is, WHY do something like this? Well, let’s take for example, the rising alert on global issues such as HIV/AIDS and global warming – they should no longer be taken lightly and in a nation of a young population like ours, we believe that our youth leaders should be trained to equip and prepare themselves as future leaders who will be ready to tackle the uproar of such global issues. Put simply, this summit will serve as a platform for them to equip themselves with the necessary skills and resources as well as to engage businesses and government to support their ideas.

Ok, ok, on with the details then.

Date: 28th – 31st May 2011
Venue: University of Malaya
Delegate fee: Free
Application Form: Download from www.aiesec.my/YNSummit
Application Deadline: 10 May 2011, 11.59PM (GMT +8)

Read on further to know more about the Summit, and of course, if you have any questions do comment and I’ll endeavor to reply them 🙂

Finally, please take the chance to blog about this amazing event. Whether you’re a student, a lecturer or a CEO from some amazing multinational company, every bit counts. Believe in our young, believe in the generation that will lead Malaysia to a country like no other, for we are all Malaysians 🙂
