What does the term viral really mean?

No, it’s not about a video being shared by more than millions. That’s when the video gets trendy, or swag, in current terms.

Going viral is when everyone else in the world is replicating that ONE original video and mutating it as it goes along, adding all kinds of WTF elements that will make you want to share it even more, or even join in the fun!

And that’s exactly what happened with the “Do the Harlem Shake” video, for no seemingly apparent reason. For one, it’s not even a well edited video. Secondly, the music isn’t exactly Gangam-style-catchy (in fact, rather annoying!). Finally… it’s just plain stupid! Watch the original below to see what I mean, that got a whopping 6,271,971 views as of today!

Yeap, just wasted 5 minutes of your time didn’t you?

Now imagine…. hundreds and thousands of other people joining in the fun and making even more creative video, like the Harlem Shake Original Army Edition below, garnering a whopping 7,776,836 views! Check it out!

So I shan’t bother to share with you more videos since you can search for them yourself, but guess what… this Harlem Shake dance has even infected our own soil called Malaysia. Now everyone wants to take claim for being the first in Malaysia to start this stupidity, LOL! Check out one of the first ones below:

Harlem Shake (Malaysia Edition) 1915 views

That wasn’t all, it just gets better and better, with the Zainals joining in! Catch the vid below:

The Harlem Shake! (Zainals Style) 3,427 views

But the one that takes the cake is definitely @shawnleebeatbox’s edition. Super funny and awesome! Even better if he beatboxed it himself

Harlem Shake (SHAWN LEE EDITION) MALAYSIA! 2,801 views

UPDATE

Looks like the night of 17th was a night of crazy fun with all the fireworks going on, to the point where even WE got hooked into doing the Harlem Shake, Bai Ti Gong style!

If you like it, share it around and even create your own video, despite how stupid it may seem haha.<del> I may even be tempted to do it myself! LOL</del> I DID IT, thanks to Director Ah Eng & Videographer Wilson + all casts including the girlfriend @Jingy_Ron!. Remember to share it at the comment below so I can add it in the post ok?

Go check other Malaysian version of the viral video via this link and see how lame we can be XD

“OMG the annoying Tong TongTong Chiang is here, why la must we always play this kind of music in this modern day and time?!” says my ex girlfriend to me. All. The. Time. I usually have no issues but after a while SHE‘s the one I’m annoyed with haha, I mean, it’s a great time to celebrate don’t you think?!

Most people don’t know that the songs played during Lion Dance has an important chorus that brings us all luck. I for one should know, seeing that I’ve performed Lion Dancing during my university days at Imperial College London (heck my team and I performed at Trafalgar Square in front of more than 10,000 people before!) so I really appreciate this age-old Chinese New Year tradition that has stuck around for so long, so much so that we should really keep it alive

Check out Grandpa’s version of it. You’ve really got to respect this one :p

I’m no Cantonese, but another tradition is that you have to wear a pair of Cheong Fu (long pants). The only issue is our grandparents usually want us to wear it up high, do you remember that?! Haha I’ll never get enough of it!

But Grandpa does! LOL

But hey I won’t judge you if you like that style up. Oppa-Grandpa Style, go faster record and post YOUR video up

Finally, since my ex is single (who ask her to diss CNY music?!) let Grandpa show you, oh might as well to all the single ladies also, on how to throw oranges and be more fruitful at finding love this Chap Goh Meh

Seriously, I don’t know who comes up with these awesome videos but it really makes for a great laugh, and very appropriate too, since none of us actually spend time with our family more than with our own mobile phones, LOL, so why not show my blogpost to be your family entertainment this Chinese New Year?

Gong Hei Gong Hei, Gong Hei Fatt Choy, dear readers of mine! May you be blessed with prosperity and long life of many snakes to come

Watch more funny Grandfather Stories here through this link or share

Yin Yang Yee Sang (Tune Salmon Rotoulade) was obviously the number 1 to start with, beckoning wishes to be granted as we mixed the these ingredients together.

After the preparation is done by our dear waitresses,

Decided how much is cialis 20 mg the ok have product.

the only thing left to do is to..

Share the joy while making wishes during the process of “Lou” which means to mix the Yee Sang! I don’t know what Esther is wishing for, but it must be great looking at her happy face!

As for me, this was my maiden Yee Sang session, and rightfully so since there’s no where else I want to break my Yee Sang virginity… I’ve really started to build a fondness for Prince Hotel, their ever lovely staff and of course, my beloved seasonal parking space for only RM110 a month!

Braised Pearl Shark Fin with Fish Maw in Supreme Golden Broth was next up in the menu and boy was it so darn tasty!

Here take a look at the Shark Fin.. it’s so refined and of course, ORIGINAL! I tell ya I couldn’t have enough of it even if I wanted to!

So what’s next? The Braised fried oysters with Fatt Choy, Mexican Soy Clams, Sea Cucumber and wok-fried greens of course, to signify green money!

My all time favourite though, was the Steamed Cod with Pickled Radish and Garlic in Supreme Soy Sauce! Utilizing the “Chai Poh”‘s (Pickled Radish) saltish sweet taste and combined with some spices with the fresh, yummy cod fish was probably one of the most fantastic experience ever!

Deep-fried Batter-dipped Prawns tossed with Fresh Lime Dressing was. the. bomb! At first I thought they tasted like Salted-Egg Prawns, before I realized that lingering tangy taste that sent explosions into my mouth!

Braised Duck with Dried Fish Maw and Dried Scallops. Well. At this stage, you know you can’t resist the calling to eat, and throw all signs of dietary plans. FML.

Last but not least, we had Fried Rice with Seafood and baby Abalone where you just can’t help but stare at those abalones. Surprisingly, though, they add value to the fried rice which I enjoyed very much

Finally, Hasmah with red dates and Glutinous Rice Dumplings to end the day. Looks heavenly, no?

Well, it is.

So that is, ladies and gentlemen, Prince Hotel’s famous Chinese New Year Fortune Set. For the kind of class and experience you would get in fine dining, this set is pretty reasonable with a price tag at RM1188 per 10 person. You’d probably want to bring only those who you really love though, money after all isn’t grown from trees.

As for me, I’d definitely bring my nucleus family, for everything they’ve done to get me where I am today. I shall pay them back in all exquisiteness, flowing with a first class charmed Chinese New Year!

Ok I lied. It’s cause this Tai Zi Heen serves one of the bestest Guo Ling Gou herbal jelly I’ve ever sinked my teeth into… Yummy pandan waft eminating from it, pieces of sago and sea coconut lending the sweetness to our firm jelly covered in light syrup… OMG I WANT ONE NAO!

Absolutely not. House of Tang believes firmly in the good spirit of homecoming children especially in these seasons and I swear, they know just how to make it even warmer! Follow on for a visual journey inside the House of Tang with me

Firstly the place itself, located at Bangsar One just up the hill as you enter Jalan Ara, is in actual fact a converted bungalow. It is complete with a garden and a beautiful patio for outside dining. I’ve just confirmed that you can book off the whole place for any functions that you may want. This is their first step in creating a homely feel when you actually dine in the House of Tang.

This time Esther was brought in along with us. It would have been perfect if she was dressed in a Cheong Sam, no? In any case, I’m sure to make a reservation solely based on the interior and exterior design of the building. Chinese, being who they are, are easily impressed with such a beautiful design before attending to their dinner

Cards? Mahjong? Feel free to do so here at House of Tang. Made to be cosy and also spacious, the place fan fit families of all sizes.

If you’re observant enough, you’ll notice all kinds of beautiful and breathtaking details, specially designed to calm your thoughts, and only extract joy out of everyone. It definitely helps with extended families meets, when sometimes problems may haunt the members of the family. Water and serenity = zen.

As you enter you’ll notice the festive moods soaring within you, thanks to willow trees and overall Chinese New Year decor.

Lively fishes are also reared and placed near the front door to invite life into the surrounding mood. Like what Feng Shui master Joey Yap says, it’s not the number of fish that matters, it’s the water level.

You can enjoy your meals from the House of Tang’s garden area, living area, private rooms, and dining area, upstairs or downstairs. In this case we’ve had our reservations upstairs where there were tables ready for us.

As soon as we were seated, we could feel the joy sinking into our hearts, releasing them off all worries and troubles. At the end we were all talking animatedly over the ambience, lighting, decorations and such. It was amazing.

Friends and family makes the bulk of visitors here. The cozy warmth elopes everyone as we got to know each other. But in the end, we were here for the food, so that kept us really excited.

行運齊撈生
Salmon Yee Sang with Crispy Shredded Treasures in Plum Dressing

The Salmon Yee Sang with Crispy Shredded Treasures in Plum Dressing comes with Salmon slices and Top shell. Of course, if you want to change the ingredient to suit your style, House of Tang will be able to assist you. Just call them up!

It was truly a sight to behold. The waitress who were amicable and pleasant throughout treated us to a visual display of Yee Sang preparation.

And here we are, the Yee Sang before it is “Lou-ed”. At this time, I think you can imagine how much we were eager to toss the Yee Sang for fortune, health and other miscellaneous bonuses, especially more food reviews!

The end product after lou-ing the yee sang. We then proceeded to noms

Soon after we were presented with Shark Fin soup, but not just ANY shark fin soup.

‘福星添高照 干貝蚧肉冬瓜盅
Shark’s Fin Soup with Crab Meat and Dri
ed Scallop in Winter Melon

Brilliantly presented inside a Winter Melon fruit, it doesn’t only smell heavenly but also created a gasp from all of us over the beautiful presentation!

And as for the soup, it was a delicious blend of real sharks fin and fresh crab meat inside superior broth. The clear broth was also infused with the sweetness of the winter melon to create a light soup, perfect to start the dinner.

Next to come wasn’t any other dish as well.

榮華又富貴 紅燒元蹄
House of Tang Braised Pork Trotter

The Braised Pork Trotter was nothing short of tender. If the design wasn’t already world class, imagine the sight to behold as we made an incision deep into the braised meat, slicing oh-so-slowly to release the aromatic steam. Needless to say the sauce was equally tasty, and this made a wholesome tasty dish altogether!

And as usual, we have the signature prawn dish, called the

日式椒鹽明蝦
Japanese styles fleshy prawns (ming ha)

This is not your usual Tiger Prawns. Its succulent meat is so fresh and springy yet crunchy on the outside, and together with the salt and chilli made the delicacy a meal not to be missed!

亞參冬炎石斑魚
Assam ‘Tom Yam’ Garoupa Fish

My most favourite dish of all! This simply exudes class by itself! The gravy is simply delicious and the fish, freshly cooked! I loved the gravy so much that I had to keep them in a bowl to eat with my rice. It didn’t stop there, I simply had to have my second rounds, or was it third?

Whatever it is, this not-really-appetizing picture on top become the major reason why I will come back to the House Of Tang. If anything, I’ve never tasted any other Assam fish just like this, and I would definitely make this a recommendation for everyone

香草燒焗雞
Baked Chicken with Herbs

A twist for the typical chinese set menu, we also had the honour to check out yet another signature dish as above. Tender fleshes and savoury sauce made of special blend of herbs made up for its normal design (at least compared to the others). Tasty!

燉老火湯
Double Boiled Soup of the Day

We also had a round of soup to try, the usual ones you can find else where. Made without MSG (like the rest of the dishes too, mind you!) the soup was doubled boil just nicely, and you can clearly smell the distinct aroma from each of them.

However what stood out most was the Coconut infused herbal soup- the clear herbal soup is uniquely tinged with coconut flavours, supple and not too strong, such that it commanded the natural sweetness of all ingredients involved. Kudos for such a creative and essential idea!

欖菜肉碎炒桂豆

French Beans with Preserved Olives and Minced Meat

The french beans, fried in “Wok Hei” turned out to be a very tasty vegetable dish, perfect for both kids and adults to enjoy. I probably enjoyed this the most as it wasn’t too oily and crunchy enough to my liking.

千層菜莆豆腐
Special Homemade Layered Beancurd

The idea on how this dish came up was when the Master Chef Koh wanted to create something tasty yet without destroying the tofu as it is really tender. For instance, cooking it twice would have destroyed the beautiful texture it had. The result? Layered Beancurd that could dance with your tastebuds

東坡肉
Braised Pork with Soya Sauce

Now this dish was a little bit different compared to what I’ve tried before. The main difference was the Tangy Sauce that went with the fat-pork meat and steamed bun, which could prove to be too strong for others, and yet, amazingly tasty for the rest. I found it a little ‘hard’ at first, but thanks to the tender pieces of meat it eventually melted into my mouth, just like the rest of the dishes.

蓮藕花腩煲
Claypot Pork Belly with Lotus Root

Yet another recommended dish! Clean, tasty and sometimes with an added “zhng” whenever you bite into the succulent pork belly. I’m actually serious :p

如意添好市 海參蠔士鮑螺發菜
Braised Dried Oysters with Fatt Choy, Top Shell, Sea Cucumber and Wok Fried Greens

Perfect to clean your mouth and stomach after the galore of savoury food!

金銀堆滿屋 荷葉臘味飯
Steamed Rice with Waxed Meat in Lotus Leaf

Pictures just don’t do justice for this dish. But the again, this one just MIGHT will

全家好團圓 海底椰湯丸
Glutinous Rice Dumplings with Sea Coconut in Iced Lemon Syrup

Finally we’ve reached the desserts! I thought we’d never get pass the main dishes to be honest, though I’m not complaining really :p In any case, the glutinous rice dumplings are so nicely done complete with sufficient fillings, really nice! Coupled with the sea coconuts and served cold it was the perfect way to end all 8-course menu!

步步高升好 香炸年糕
Crisp Fried Chinese Brown Sugar Cake

The last of the last is then served, and for me I was too full at this point to fully appreciate this apparent masterpiece. A small bite tells me that it makes a great snack though, and so I tarpaoed some to take home for suppers snacking :p

‘Master Chef Koh‘ is the man of the day. For a man who designed all the dishes and presentation in the menu you see above, you’d think he’d be stuck up and be all prim and proper. However after we had our chances for photoshoot with him we realised that he loves to joke and always makes people around him feel at home. Esther here had a fun time taking a photo with our wonky chef

His singular focus is fixed at providing unsurpassed level of homey experience for the entire duration of your gathering, be it a dinner or lunch. And to be honest, I think he did all those pretty much amazingly. Look out for Chinese New Year promotions as per below!

WARNING: Creating this entry before having breakfast has caused me serious internal damage, eternal stomach growling and pains together with loss of water through drool. Please proceed with caution

Nicholas decided one day that he wanted to show off his father’s awesome cooking that he’s been telling us about, and fortunately for us the fateful day came. It was to be a small group gathering filled with food, mahjong and poker cards, just the way I like it

Huai Bin wasn’t sure where his house was in Desa Park City, and since I had the privilege to accompany Nicholas home once for some skiiing session (wtf) I offered to guide him there and so he came to my house to tailgate my car. It was pretty darn funny cause he turned on his emergency lights all the way while tailgating, making me look like the leading car wherelse he was the VIP being chauffered around. Guess HB always has his special way of doing things out of the ordinary eh?

Needless to say as soon as we arrived, Nick’s mom threw her best hospitability skills which were awesome and made us feel at home, which wasn’t hard cause all she had to do was to push them beautiful and aromatic dishes our way and made us melt. This Homemade Spring Roll was one of them, and I have to tell you it’s one of the tastiest springroll I’ve eaten for some time!

But the dish-of-the-day was actually the Chay’s Chicken Curry which was also made by Nick’s father! Apparently his pride and joy, the curry which was not so often made is tantalisingly delicious, and what’s more, it wasn’t made with santan so that those who face obesity issues or suffers from IBS will get to taste it! Unfortunately I couldn’t tell what he substituted it for, until I was told by Auntie that Uncle used evaporated milk and it all suddenly made sense

I think this was the Fried Prawns in Salted Egg Yolk, because that was how I remembered the dish. Needless to say every bite was crisp and done in all tastefulness, leaving you no other desire than to want more of it.

Of course the Golden Roasted Duck is a must, giving a variety of dishes to choose from. Nick’s parents really did so much for the bunch of us!

Finally came the Sesame Glutinous Rice, which came with a somewhat heavy aroma of sesame seed oil which I adore. Though admittedly it was a little hard, no thanks to taking them out of the steamer far too early so that the moisture dried up, we still had it because it went so very well with the curry. What a perfect combination!

Andrew was already there when Huai Bin and I arrived, so the first batch who had the scrumptious meal was the 3 of us plus Nick’s friend and mom! Auntie didn’t even allow us to be shy, telling us that there’s many more where it came from. How could we resist? Thumbs up from all to Auntie and Uncle Chay!

I repeat: H-o-w c-o-u-l-d w-e r-e-s-i-s-t!

Oh before I forget, there was this huuuuuuuge portion of Heavenly Fried Mee Hoon right smack in the middle of the table. How la, my diet routine has been destroyed forever!

I was so shy, my first session consisted of the following few dishes on my plate. I think my “shyness” left me when I found out Auntie had many more food at the back of the kitchen

And of course, how could I not bring Shitzoe to happy events like these? Say Hi to Shitzoe everyone!

After having our lunch of the century (I’m not exaggerating, I think the food could have lasted us THAT long lol) the bunch of us started playing cards, while the second batch of guests came, including KY, Cheesie, Suanie, Mellissa, Tzia, Yee Hou, Deb Fong (here’s her version!) and my darling Firdy.

All in all we had a blast of a gambling session with constant flow of drinks thanks to the Chay family, and eventually left in groups. Thank you Nicholas Chay, my ever loving shirt tuck-out, not-so-hamsap hensem guy who I admire a lot and one of the better badminton players I’ve met, for inviting me to your little party

Anyway Firdy and I were the last to leave and with that, it marked another end of the Chinese New Year of 2009

Time has flown so much since and as everyday approaches, new journeys are built while old ones end to bring us an excitement that has never been thought possible at all. This, my friends, is a toast to a great start filled with luck, joy, prosperity and attractions!

As Chinese New Year looms upon us all, major shopping malls have just stored away their Christmas decorations, to be replaced by even more fancy CNY festive decorations! One such scene is the scene you got above.

It wasn’t long before I got caught into this one in, shouting among shouts abt their new pizza called the Golden Fortune Cheesy Crown. LIKE WTH RIGHT!
It didn’t take me long to get seated and the next thing i knew, the waitress was called, pizza ordered and there I was alone thinking how was i supposed to finish a regular pizza all by myself.

This was a sneak preview on how the pizza looks. Needless to say it opened up the dam in my mouth.

I stole this menu to put it up in my office cubicle, cause it’s all cute and that. Don’t you think so? That tantalizing shot of the pizza coupled with the design of the meny, so CNY-ish!

I even tested taking photos while waiting, just so that there won’t be any awkwardness with people staring later, wondering what on earth was I trying to do. On hindsight my actions could have made them think that I was stealing their pizza idea!

Finally the arrival of the main guest commenced, and there I was staring down at it. Somehow I really, really missed those days when we were served pizza inside these black pans, now that’s what I call authenticity! Then I reminded myself this was a flat crust pizza. DARN. I really love thick pan crusts. While most people throw them away I actually gobble these down in glee!

Just for comparison sake I took one piece out of the circle, and hold it up against my palm. As you can see, regular ain’t so regular after all, the portion was pretty small! But I was still fascinated by the shape of the whole damn thing lol. Filled with chunks of tuna, crabmeat stick and other seafood-y stuff, how appetizing to!

At least one thing’s for sure, their tempura prawns were generously scattered throughout the pizza. If there were just a miserable small number of it, us as the customers would have noticed and suddenly prosperity wouldn’t have sounded like its meaning should have now, would it? lol

Without further ado I took my first bite at it. You know what blew me away? The tangy mayonnaise, pineapple and the prawn tempura! What a combination of flavour! I was so certain I could finish the whole damn thing, nevermind that the base wasn’t made out of the typical tomato-based sauce, or that the little cheese-pouch crust looks too heavy for full consumption by just one person!

But it was, and soon I started trying out how to finish them without feeling over-powered by those powerfully packed pouch of cheesie goodness. This includes adding chilli on top of it. This wasn’t too bad, kinda adds to the sweetness actually. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I do like a wonderful mix of flavours to tantalize my taste buds!

Though that didn’t fully do the trick for me. Soon I was getting bored with the taste and texture. Too much of the same thing does that to you. I proceeded to just take really yummy shots of them individual pieces without eating them.

Already in my head I knew I had to take these away, and maybe consume it in the office. Which I did, but unfortunately even time didn’t help; the bungkused portion was eventually brought home and stuffed in the fridge, which still remains in the same position until today. Guess it was reaaallly too filling for one person, and now that i’ve tried it, albeit too much, I probably wouldn’t wanna taste it again anytime soon.

Lesson learned? Do NOT attempt to have a regular sized pizza on your own because it’s not that you won’t be able to finish it, you’d just feel so “muak” for eating the same thing over and over again that your body will reject it simply altogether lol.

That was about it really. I love this place though, one of the few Pizza Huts in town to actually look classy.

Then again, everything at Pavilion was classy. Just tag the word “Signature” on it and you get a 6-star design with all our fast-food restaurants established in it. Kinda interesting if you took note of this fact a while back And you would do good to notice that McDonalds couldn’t be part of this plan, I wonder why

In any case, the total amount spent was RM30-ish, definitely way over budget! I was fine though, cause I really just wanted to give it a test try, and doing it alone was kind of cool, with all those waiter and waitresses staring at you thinking if you were some kind of bigshot. Even other customers couldn’t resist taking a peek on this guy who was camwhoring while enjoying his food, as if he was in his own world. Which I was really

There’s just something about CNY that affects everyone, and for this case, it was for the better. And with this entry, it’ll mark a season of CNY dinners for time to come. I’d like to wish everyone good luck in trying to slim down before putting on noticeable weight at the end of the day!!
