Tiesto is back in Malaysia in Heineken Thirst, ravers! Win a pair of free passes ;)

Two Malaysians to Perform with Tiësto

Five promising DJs in Malaysia have competed in front of a panel of industry experts in Heineken Found @ Thirst DJ Search in Mist Club just today, a few hours ago! The champion will not just take home RM10,000 in cash but form a career overnight by sharing the same stage together with the World’s No. 1 DJ –  Tiësto in Heineken Thirst in the Sepang International Circuit this 10 December – now how’s that for a prize!

Just to show that passion happens in all kinds of ways, the five finalists come from an advertising executive, videographer to a hairstylist in this year’s Heineken Found @ Thirst DJ Search. DJ Frozensteps, Nick Haydez, Tommy Cham, Major and the only female competitor, Darling Sabrina, comes from a diverse music style and all possess the X factor that landed them in the top five spots in the competition. However for some reason that I cannot fathom, Tommy Cham ended up being the number one although the rest of us on the floor (even other spinners!) could vouch for DJ Nick Haydez being the BEST DJ on the floor, receiving raving reviews from the judges!

Anyway, you be the judge. Here are works from the DJs…

Found @ Thirst DJ Search Top Five

Judged by the panel below… And I still can’t believe how these judges all gave Tommy a glowing review without ever getting to the specifics! Ah well… not my call.

  • DJ Prem – 8TV, Fly FM presenter and Mist Club’s resident DJ
  • Fono – Singapore based progressive trance expert & Found @ Thirst 2003’s champion
  • Phil K Lee – Found @ Thirst 2010’s champion
  • Ben Law  of Future Sound Asia – Heineken Thirst’s organiser
  • Blastique – Founder of Mile High Sounds DJ training academy, legendary scene DJ & mentor of the winner and runner up of Found @ Thirst
  • Joey G – Host of Found @ Thirst DJ Search finals, Heineken Thirst Studio 2006’s champion who won a recording session in London & performed alongside Kanye West, Paul Oakenfold & Steve Aoki in Las Vegas

“Heineken Found @ Thirst DJ search forms part of a wider series of efforts by Heineken to discover and nurture local music and creative visionaries across platforms including Heineken Thirst, Heineken Green Room & Heineken Green Space,” added Jasmine Foong, Marketing Manager of Heineken Malaysia. This, is what I truly believe in, and hopefully we can even incorporate it into EYE Project!

So what does this mean to DJ Tommy? This is what he’s getting…

  • RM10,000 in cash
  • Play the opening set in Heineken Thirst, December 10 in Sepang International Circuit (WITH FRIGGIN TIESTO!)
  • Production training at Mile High Sounds DJ & music academy
  • Host their own Heineken Green Space, an exclusive party organised for them by Heineken’s team of music & event experts (which amounts to around RM30,000!)
  • Topman & Topshop’s shopping vouchers
Whether he deserves it or not is another question. I’m all out for DJ Nick yo!

So what is the Heineken Thirst all about?

Attracting more than 15,000 festival goers this year, Heineken Thirst promises to deliver a full-on music festival experience like no other featuring larger than life architectural art exhibits on top of an one-of-a-kind progressive music performances by the likes of Tiësto along with renowned Malaysian talents Blink, DJ Gabriel, Phil K Lee together with this year’s winner & runner-up of Found @ Thirst DJ Search.

The last time I was at a rave party 2 years ago with him DJing at the Admiral Cove was a BLAST! Want to catch him this December 10 2011 at Sepang Circuit? Just share in the comments on why you deserve a pair of tickets to the Heineken Thirst Rave and share it on your Facebook or Twitter! (paste the link at the comments!)

  • I want em passes because I have not been to ANY rave party even though I’m 21 this year.. So going to a rave party with TIESTO spinning all night long is gonna be the best ‘turning-into-21’ birthday gift ever to myself 😀 I wanna party-drinking Heineken all night as well 😀

  • I want to win the tickets because back in where I study in Christchurch NZ, there’s no nightlife after the February earthquake. So I wanna go all out for this summer holidays, partying for all the lost times while in NZ and I’m not planning to miss Tiesto spinning again, having narrowly missing out on him for Zoukout last year. Tiesto, top 5 Best DJ for 5 years running, and counting! Need I say more?
