Anyways.

Things are getting crazy here. I guess I do owe my readers some explanation as to why I’ve been updating my blog so infrequently since a few months back. Maybe I’ll take this time to do some honest blogging to express my feelings (since I’m sick with fever anyway, and been doing lots of mistakes, hence shifting my inability to sit down quietly to blog)

Okay let’s start with…

1. Work

Am super engrossed with www.ecmmoney.com, a project I’m working on with ECM Libra Investment Bank (yes it’s a full time 8.30am to 5.30pm job!). I hope to revolutionize the share trading industry in Malaysia with this tool. If you are an investor, or if you could lend me a help in what you want to see in a financial portal please do give me a holler at chris@ecmmoney.com!

Also keeping me busy is one major event, called the Young Corporate Malaysians Summit, this year being our first every annual event after our CEO Series! It’s going to feature lots of big names like Tony Fernandez from AirAsia, Dato Justin Leong from Genting and Dato Johan Raslan from PricewaterHouse Coopers among others giving a talk on the future of Malaysia’s corporate scene.

Last but not least are my lesser responsibilities, such as being a tech admin for RandomAlphabets.com. The last event we had was the Merdeka Train Party followed by RA+d launch initiative (with our local celebs!). What is that, you say? Well, give the site a whirl (and the video below too) and you’ll find that you may have heard of us

2. Food

Have been getting more and more request for food coverage recently, including Dome’s gorgeous 10 dishes, Pizza Hut’s latest Crunchy Cheesy Bites and the one Malaysian International Gourmet Festival post that’s being featured also at their official site, the Tai Zi Heen Fashion, Food & Wine MIGF 09 Review at Prince Hotel.

It’s amazing that as much as this blog wasn’t intended solely for food, there are still those who believe in my love for food and nothing else, so much so that big guys like BigBoysOven, FoodPoi and Shaz among others would introduce me to PR agencies/hoteliers/restaurant owners as a “reputable” flogger! Thanks guys, you have all my gratitude

3. Event Coverage/Advertorials

I guess if there’s a term that people seem to refer me as, it would be “Mr Everywhere”. As much as I deny that title, I sometimes enjoy the little fact that I do sometimes get favours from many quarters especially when it comes to exclusive events. With the coming of Twitter age, Erin’s Twitterati’s effort couldn’t be any less helpful with invitations to not only A Cut Above’s Bangsar Grand Launch but also on today’s Dennis Lau’s Press Con on his debut album, DiversiFy, happening at Shook, Starhill Gallery.

But of course, as a blogger since 2004, I never would have thought that this blog could take me as far as to know almost everyone at the lifestyle blogging scene. Now, especially with the introduction of Social Media into many PR agencies, and of course, with Nuffnang’s great work in establising bloggers as a medium to reach out to the public, this little blog of mine has ballooned to a world with limitless possibilities.

Just by browsing through my Facebook albums and some of my entries, I could see the number of Press screenings, exclusive media invites (Black Eyed Peas Media Con invitation FTW) and crazy ass events where I even won a DELL XPS laptop for myself just by wearing a cow suit grow and grow, and it just won’t stop! So who says being a blogger is uncool, eh?

ooh lala, it’s cheesie.

I guess the most important thing is to build a personality for yourself, to find that special, unique presence in you, and to share it with the world. One biggest proof of how much it can take you, is when I was chosen to become Panasonic Lumix’s Shutterbug. I mean, to use the latest LUMIX cameras for free in all events like an Ambassador, now how cool is that?

4. Development

Hokkaido, and the question was this: What makes you a great Malaysian Ambassador? Truth to be told, I think I make a good Malaysian Ambassador. Back then when Firdaus and I were rebuilding UKEC in the UK (duh) we fought against brain drain for the country. Little did I know that it would spark a whole series of relations in respect to the development of Malaysia in sectors including:

1. Finance

I needed to use the internet to spur a healthy change in the way we manage finance in Malaysia, and I find that I’m doing just that at work!

2. Anime (Japanese visual/pop culture)

I attended some functions (ie Daicon) and through other events I met an amazing person called Wise Freeman who I believe is an evangelist that I could work with, just because I believe all of us could learn a thing or two from the characters from anime like Naruto who never says die even with all odds against him!

3. Corporate/Education

When we left UKEC in good hands, we started YCM, which is all about corporate sector development in Malaysia. Also I’m spearheading the Imperial College Alumni Association of Malaysia together with prominent and influential Dato’s and Professors in order to build a policy-advising thinktank that would be beneficial to the country.

4. Food

So much to do, this is by far the most attractive point for Malaysia. My love for cooking, tasting and exploring made all sense.

5. Entrepreneurship; and

Being part of the scene and watching our young entrepreneurs building such a craze this year is amazing! Check out http://entrepreneurs.my to see what I mean!

6. Hope/Inspire/CHANGE!

With Tim Fernandez and his Live & Inspire series, coupled with Khailee’s Youth Engagement Summit 2009 (check out the poster below) in which the Young Corporate Malaysians are partners of, I really see a bright, bright future for us young Malaysians. Even politically-inclined friends of mine are really, really competent leaders whom I can’t wait to see take leadership.

I will be covering these events, and very excitedly so… not because of the people speaking in it, rather, the excitement on seeing our Asian youths standing up proudly to look for CHANGE for the BETTERMENT!

Anyway, without going off tangent, all I really want to say is that I’m taken up with quite a number of events happening end of this year, and to me, it’s

all about sharing. And sincerity.

It’s tough, really tough, since I’ve got friends who are not necessarily interested in all the things I do, so they may not want to hear it. This is why I have my Facebook account, my Twitter account and my Blog, to split them all up into specific coverage. I want to share more, and the balance between sharing something relevant and something irrelevant to my friends and readers becomes the hardest choice for me.

I must say, though, that I enjoy whatever it is that I’m doing, and sacrifices are made without regret. It’s all part of my strategic gameplan into something big, something that could revolutionize Malaysia into a country that NOBODY would want to migrate off from.

So please help me and spare me, and do forgive me for not updating my blog. I’m already pretty honoured that this measly blog of mine could actually be in the top 100 Malaysia blogs, at least according to Riceblogger, even if it’s from the bottom up! Or could this be due to the fact that I wrote about this list before? LOL go figure, but at least I know I’m doing something right!

Aren’t they adorable? Hahaha okay I’m kidding, these birds are part of Garden’s decoration which cannot be missed if you’re coming out from the basement into the Central Area at the New Wing, 1 Utama. In fact they were so cute we decided there and then that we will celebrate our pre-valentine’s here.

My two loved ones aren’t those cute birds in the bird house, but Mikel and Zoe instead! They look so adorable posing with the birdhouse, don’t they? lol. This was all done while waiting for Christine, whom all of us were meeting for the first time, to arrive. It’s amazing how plurk brought us together like this

Welcome to Garden, 1 Utama

Garden’s ambience is really, really beautiful. A touch of nature with classy elegance created a fairy-like effect during our dinner session. Here’s Zoe smiling happily with the lovely scenery all around her

My soup was first to arrive, it was pretty quick service if you asked me! Not too bad tasting too.

The service was great even with quite a decent amount of customers sitting around the area. There were 3 different sitting areas and one could opt for a dark, foresty feel, an open air feel (where we are) and the corner, out-of-the-way feel where couples can choose to be intimate without being watched

Zoe’s tea arrive just then. She ordered some kind of flowery tea just to see what it’s all about, and we weren’t disappointed at all; the tea set was just simply too cute for words! The aroma was heavenly too, though one would find it wierd that the tea had a flowery taste to it. It’s something you have to get used to I guess.

One of the nicest things about the tea set is its tea cup. It’s so very dainty and cute, and you can see sort of

an air layer between the outside and its content, so that heat doesn’t reach the outer area, hence easy to hold. It gave some sort of an eatheral ambience to the whole experience

oh and I have to add everything in this restaurant is for sale! (watch out for the tags attached to the furnitures!)

Mikel and Christine here can be seen with their food… In fact, all of them ordered pasta in some form or another. Admittedly the portion wasn’t quite as big as, say, Italiannies, but we assure you these tastes much better (and less pricey, too!)

I got myself the pinapple and hamd sandwhich. Don’t ask me why I got them, but I thought it was refreshing to have something citrusy that night

Here’s Zoe’s pasta podorello, simply cause she’s a vegetarian and this is probably one of the few vegetarian selection there is. It was great though, I mean, who could resist those cute, juicy cherry tomatos!

Then our Calamari rings came, which was I have to say pretty good! Mikel definitely loved it

Needless to say, Zoe was happy as well

With that all over and done with, I feel Gardens gave the bestestest ambience ever for this year’s pre-Valentine’s. Thank you Garden, for providing us with such a beautiful place to camwhore

Even to the end, I’m sure all of us were hoping for the time to stop. Having so much fun, laughing together and just enjoying each other’s company without any awkwardness is something I would give anything for. We’re so comfortable with each other that even when Mikel “flashed” we didn’t feel embarrassed one bit! hahha he’s just too funny XD

Thank you, Zoe, Mikel and Christine. My pre-Valentine’s day wouldn’t have been right without you guys. It was because of this that the day afterwards didn’t seem so bad after all, besides being uneventful for the first time in umpteenth years!

My heart belongs to you all. Thank you for sharing yours with me. *hugs*

She was just out from some make-up do and looking gorgeous as ever (and in this picture, she looks so much taller!) so there were no surprises when I noticed some head turns coming from guys and girls who’d come our way.

The place looks beautiful as you can see, striking a futuristic ambience between the shadows and glowing lights, the contrast apparent to those who enter the premises. Truly a masterpiece to behold while waiting for the food to come!

I heard lots about this little pumpkin dish, despite it being served cold. The texture was highly interesting, porous in the inside to create a spongy-like feel while not being too thick, and yet coming of as smooth as cream. The taste would be heavenly to pumpkin lovers, we both certainly liked it.

Then came the soup. I think if it wasn’t for the appetizing style of the which it was served, the soup wouldn’t have lived up to its standard. It was okay though, a really pretty thing to look at. We were fascinated by it for a while before our next dish came with a sizzle…

Slices of sizzling pork on top of white japanese rice, all hissing inside the hot stone bowl (it was really hot!) seem to create a heavenly illusion to the whole experience. No words were needed to describe the savoury aromy arising from the steaming pot of marinated sizzling pork strips in curry, as if they were meant to induce pools of drools within our mouth.

Ringo didn’t hesitate anymore and digged in. The portion was pretty decent and hence we shared it between the both of us.

While waiting for my turn, I had the opportunity to check out the quirkiness of the design in DainTi Hill, and fully appreciate the beauty of its intrinsic design. Being an interior designer myself (just a hobby, not pro at all) I thought I would learn a bit or two by the creativity shown in its different sections of the restaurant. We opted for dessert ice-cream as it looked really good from the menu. Choosing between red bean and mango, we decided to go for fruits to end the night, though later I quite wished we had had gone for the red beans instead. It came as appetizing as it looked from the menu, and tasted as sweet too! In fact I had mine with extra sugar water that was provided in a separate dainty jug.

Ringo didn’t really like it as she was more into savoury food than sweets. That didn’t stop her though, and though we couldn’t finish the ice shavings, all pieces of mango were eaten away as well as its core (also stuffed with more mango goodness!)

And that was really it! The price was a little hefty with the small number of dishes but I would have guessed any restaurants situated on the 6th floor would have similar pricing. All in all the ambience and styling of the food was excellent, though the taste didn’t quite measure up to par, gives it a rating approval from Christopher Tock of 7/10!

Even the Gutterpost blog that withstood Edison Chen’s infamous scandal is now affected by Elizabeth Wong’s nude picture hype (which I believe is overrated, and is NOT a scandal in the first place anyway).

This goes to show how much the world is taking notice on this despicable turn of events happening only in Malaysia, my dearly beloved country.

It all started out with KY’s Christmas Eve party. As you can read in the post below, I had quite a hectic Christmas Eve schedule which I totally enjoyed. Here are some of the memorable moments that I could come up with from my camera:

And how could I ever forget my baby Yee Hou, whom we shared a lovely chocolatey kiss in public with

Thanks to Zoe we managed to get the recipe for the Eggnog, something that I take EVERY Christmas without FAIL! We even did a video on how we did this, but later la, now blog simple simple first hehe. This was the result of our hardwork, thanks to Ayman (my long time friend who never failed me, ever!), Yee Hou (my baby) and Zoe who never failed to cheer me up

OUR GLASSES OF EGGNOG! Heck, even Yee Hou who was so scared to drink this loved it! Why was he scared?

Cause it was made out of raw eggs. Details later

Can SOMEBODY please tell me why are people concentrating on the fact that there was no foul play on their deaths, when in fact an old enough gentleman (28 years old, in fact) and a 13 year old girl were found NAKED sleeping in the car TOGETHER should at least TELL YOU SOMETHING FAR MORE DISTURBINGGGGGGG!!!!

Like wth don’t people notice something horrible and sick or is it just me somebody TELL ME WHY!

Then it occured to me that maybe, just maybe, that telescope from some science store neatly tucked in one corner of the room was used for more than just gazing stars, especially with the beautiful canvas drawing board set placed strategically right where the windows are, looking out at other high-rise apartments.

I saw mini-people strolling around outside the balconies as I looked out the window. Girls. Ah, now I see the source of such beautiful drawings of those faces, and especially the eyes, scattered around the number of canvases left lying around, unappreciated, in that small room of his.

The humble artist, is none other than Firdauz, my Love.

 
We went on Monday to grab some good Iranian grub, on top of my oncoming birthday
 

 
The place was beautifully decorated. Seats were super comfy and melted at the weight of our backsides.

First came the homous. Our favourite. Eaten with pieces of bread-like Chapati.
 

 
Then the Lamb Tagine with Prunes came with such irresistible allurement, that it was nearly impossible for us not to start digging in. Heavenly texture of a lamb, and that sweet, sweet prunish sauce.
 

 
Charm. Is what he has. The guys at Nuffnang certainly wasn’t kidding.

Then came our oversized final order (we didn’t really need this, super full)

Then the rest of the night was taken to talking, bonding, sharing and mostly, being in love.
