Little did I know that my little blog could spearhead me into what I am now – one of Prestige Top 40 Under 40 2012 recipient, a nominee at the Newman Creative Pioneer Award 2014, the co-founder cum social entrepreneur of an award-winning social enterprise outfit EYE Project, founder of SocialGrooves.com a boutique social media consultancy agency working with clients such as Maybank and Domino’s, a digital branding consultant to well known personalities like Dato’ Lee Chong Wei & Harith Iskander and many other roles which you can read on my About Me section, all within 8 years!

Basically, I owe it all to social media, my passion in all things IT and of course, computers & mobile phones. And I am no one more special than you are – not as talented, not as handsome (or pretty), not super well off, basically as normal as it gets lah – a typical gamer and manga reader (I love Crayon Shin Chan, Naruto, One Piece, and recently One Punch Man!). The secret lies in my secret techniques, life hacks using technology, in order to achieve so much together with my collaborators, business partners, and partners-in-crime. In this post, I want to share with you 6 of the many tips on how you can empower yourself to do everything FASTER, with BIGGER RESULTS and most importantly, LOOK GOOD doing so Without further ado, let’s begin!

1. Use a Windows-Intel device!

I’m not joking.

I started my journey as a highly curious boy with a PC powered by Intel. And since most PCs at that time are equipped with Windows and Intel, learning became a breeze. Every iteration of the latest Windows and Intel processor defies all odds in terms of how we integrate our lives with technology, and just recently Intel coined the best processor ever – the 6th generation intel Core Processor Family (formerly Skylake) making it an ultimate upgrade. It is so fast and seamless – doesn’t even lag as I switch between Desktop and Tablet mode! Show you proof in my next few posts under the my #makemagiceveryday series

But yeah, it helps me to switch between work & play, so who needs more than one device now?! My bag now looks slimmer than ever without the need of stuffing in 1 iPad, 1 laptop and 1 tablet  into it haha.

2. Be Ever-Ready for anything!

Manage energy, not time. Your energy limits what you can do with your time, so manage it wisely. Being able to do many things simultaneously helps me to keep my ideas fresh, and since I don’t waste a lot of time waiting, I end up just doing awesome work! Ideas can come from anywhere, inspired by anything. However you must always remember to MAKE THAT DECISION.

Of course the problem with multitasking is that often your battery runs out. This postpones work done and you’d have to find another café to recharge. Well I basically said goodbye to that – my new HP Spectre X360 lasts up to 10 hours, it’s true! Big plans need an ultimate sidekick like a Windows-intel device to work magic!

3. Make magic but still stay stylish!

The slim size of the my new laptop is a serious plus point! Talk about being sleek and stylish – especially with Doria next to me <3

Honestly I got to where I am not because I work harder than most, or because I’m smarter or anything – it’s how I brand myself. What people see me use, what I wear, it creates a lasting impression & that’s why I make sure I look good & stylish anytime, any day. Using my HP Spectre X360 daily wherever I go definitely helped

4. Always challenge yourself & never say ‘enough’

Know your goals and set a mental note to remind yourself every day. The only person you should be better than is the person you were yesterday. That’s how I ended up managing Dato’ Lee Chong Wei’s social media platforms & responsible for his commercial & collaborative performances!

Every year I aim for a new recognition and challenges with clients, and I’m glad my handy sidekick can keep up with me so far. By the way, that’s what Windows 10 is all about – they knew what didn’t work & made it into something awesome through innovation and more importantly, feedback!

Speaking of innovation, I’ll share about Intel Real Sense & Windows Hello technology next! It’ll be followed by some productivity apps recommendation (have you the new native apps like Mail?! Uber cool!), a few shortcuts I’ve found useful while working on the go and of course, the all-new Microsoft-exclusive browser – Microsoft Edge!

5. Learn from mistakes

Every day, I make mistakes. The only difference, I’m the FIRST to make the mistake. And when you’re the first, the only person who knows it’s a mistake is YOU!

Best of all, magic truly happens usually during the process of making mistakes. You’ll find something new, something no one has ever done and creating something no one has event seen. That’s why I’m truly honoured to be able to work with two legendary brands – Microsoft and Intel, and hope they will continue to feed me with the latest technology so I can be first to experience and share it with you all.

Anyways.

Things are getting crazy here. I guess I do owe my readers some explanation as to why I’ve been updating my blog so infrequently since a few months back. Maybe I’ll take this time to do some honest blogging to express my feelings (since I’m sick with fever anyway, and been doing lots of mistakes, hence shifting my inability to sit down quietly to blog)

Okay let’s start with…

1. Work

Am super engrossed with www.ecmmoney.com, a project I’m working on with ECM Libra Investment Bank (yes it’s a full time 8.30am to 5.30pm job!). I hope to revolutionize the share trading industry in Malaysia with this tool. If you are an investor, or if you could lend me a help in what you want to see in a financial portal please do give me a holler at chris@ecmmoney.com!

Also keeping me busy is one major event, called the Young Corporate Malaysians Summit, this year being our first every annual event after our CEO Series! It’s going to feature lots of big names like Tony Fernandez from AirAsia, Dato Justin Leong from Genting and Dato Johan Raslan from PricewaterHouse Coopers among others giving a talk on the future of Malaysia’s corporate scene.

Last but not least are my lesser responsibilities, such as being a tech admin for RandomAlphabets.com. The last event we had was the Merdeka Train Party followed by RA+d launch initiative (with our local celebs!). What is that, you say? Well, give the site a whirl (and the video below too) and you’ll find that you may have heard of us

2. Food

Have been getting more and more request for food coverage recently, including Dome’s gorgeous 10 dishes, Pizza Hut’s latest Crunchy Cheesy Bites and the one Malaysian International Gourmet Festival post that’s being featured also at their official site, the Tai Zi Heen Fashion, Food & Wine MIGF 09 Review at Prince Hotel.

It’s amazing that as much as this blog wasn’t intended solely for food, there are still those who believe in my love for food and nothing else, so much so that big guys like BigBoysOven, FoodPoi and Shaz among others would introduce me to PR agencies/hoteliers/restaurant owners as a “reputable” flogger! 3. Event Coverage/Advertorials

I guess if there’s a term that people seem to refer me as, it would be “Mr Everywhere”. As much as I deny that title, I sometimes enjoy the little fact that I do sometimes get favours from many quarters especially when it comes to exclusive events. With the coming of Twitter age, Erin’s Twitterati’s effort couldn’t be any less helpful with invitations to not only A Cut Above’s Bangsar Grand Launch but also on today’s Dennis Lau’s Press Con on his debut album, DiversiFy, happening at Shook, Starhill Gallery.

But of course, as a blogger since 2004, I never would have thought that this blog could take me as far as to know almost everyone at the lifestyle blogging scene. Now, especially with the introduction of Social Media into many PR agencies, and of course, with Nuffnang’s great work in establising bloggers as a medium to reach out to the public, this little blog of mine has ballooned to a world with limitless possibilities.

Just by browsing through my Facebook albums and some of my entries, I could see the number of Press screenings, exclusive media invites (Black Eyed Peas Media Con invitation FTW) and crazy ass events where I even won a DELL XPS laptop for myself just by wearing a cow suit grow and grow, and it just won’t stop! So who says being a blogger is uncool, eh?

ooh lala, it’s cheesie.

I guess the most important thing is to build a personality for yourself, to find that special, unique presence in you, and to share it with the world. One biggest proof of how much it can take you, is when I was chosen to become Panasonic Lumix’s Shutterbug. 4. Development

Hokkaido, and the question was this: What makes you a great Malaysian Ambassador? Truth to be told, I think I make a good Malaysian Ambassador. Back then when Firdaus and I were rebuilding UKEC in the UK (duh) we fought against brain drain for the country. Little did I know that it would spark a whole series of relations in respect to the development of Malaysia in sectors including:

1. Finance

I needed to use the internet to spur a healthy change in the way we manage finance in Malaysia, and I find that I’m doing just that at work!

2. Anime (Japanese visual/pop culture)

I attended some functions (ie Daicon) and through other events I met an amazing person called Wise Freeman who I believe is an evangelist that I could work with, just because I believe all of us could learn a thing or two from the characters from anime like Naruto who never says die even with all odds against him!

3. Corporate/Education

When we left UKEC in good hands, we started YCM, which is all about corporate sector development in Malaysia. Also I’m spearheading the Imperial College Alumni Association of Malaysia together with prominent and influential Dato’s and Professors in order to build a policy-advising thinktank that would be beneficial to the country.

4. Food

So much to do, this is by far the most attractive point for Malaysia. My love for cooking, tasting and exploring made all sense.

5. Entrepreneurship; and

Being part of the scene and watching our young entrepreneurs building such a craze this year is amazing! Check out http://entrepreneurs.my to see what I mean!

6. Hope/Inspire/CHANGE!

With Tim Fernandez and his Live & Inspire series, coupled with Khailee’s Youth Engagement Summit 2009 (check out the poster below) in which the Young Corporate Malaysians are partners of, I really see a bright, bright future for us young Malaysians. Even politically-inclined friends of mine are really, really competent leaders whom I can’t wait to see take leadership.

I will be covering these events, and very excitedly so… not because of the people speaking in it, rather, the excitement on seeing our Asian youths standing up proudly to look for CHANGE for the BETTERMENT!

Anyway, without going off tangent, all I really want to say is that I’m taken up with quite a number of events happening end of this year, and to me, it’s

all about sharing. And sincerity.

It’s tough, really tough, since I’ve got friends who are not necessarily interested in all the things I do, so they may not want to hear it. This is why I have my Facebook account, my Twitter account and my Blog, to split them all up into specific coverage. I want to share more, and the balance between sharing something relevant and something irrelevant to my friends and readers becomes the hardest choice for me.

I must say, though, that I enjoy whatever it is that I’m doing, and sacrifices are made without regret. It’s all part of my strategic gameplan into something big, something that could revolutionize Malaysia into a country that NOBODY would want to migrate off from.

So please help me and spare me, and do forgive me for not updating my blog. I’m already pretty honoured that this measly blog of mine could actually be in the top 100 Malaysia blogs, at least according to Riceblogger, even if it’s from the bottom up! Or could this be due to the fact that I wrote about this list before? LOL go figure, but at least I know I’m doing something right!

As with all other New Year’s eve, I’ll be heading down to Fuad‘s place for a new year’s bash, a repeat from last year’s but nevertheless something I always look forward to for fun and excitement among closest of friends.

Why not watch the fireworks at Thames River, or go to New Year’s Eve clubbing events, I hear you ask. Well, let’s just say I’ve been there, done that and maybe this time would be the last time I celebrated New Year’s in the United Kingdom, hence I’d prefer a more personal yet wild approach to it. Personal because my closest friends left would be there, and wild because ANY party at Fuad’s is W–I–L–D!

Anyway I was reading June’s blog at I thought wow, she summarized her achievements in every month of the year 2007, and that was quite amazing. I don’t think I could, seeing that this year was my final year in Imperial College and so been studying my ass off. So it would have looked like this: (1) January – I studied hard (2) February – U studied hardER (3) and so on and so forth lolol.

I suppose I’ll just list down my achievements la. Good to read back anyway and see what I’d do in the future. I have to say though, this year’s was many a ‘first time’s

1. Successfuly pulled off the last Careers Fair (2007) in which I was part of the organising committee, raking in a total of 37 companies, a huge improvement from the previous year. It’s awesome to see your events getting better and better each year!

2. Raked in 2 multinational-oriented jobs that earned me £££ and lots of experience here and here while watching my freelancing career earn me up to £850 per project.

3. Went to Ibiza, Spain with two beautiful ladies and had beach, sunsets, beach, wait did I already mentioned sunset too?

4. Visited cool places like the Ice Bar, Cadbury World among others.

5. Attended my first ever International Football live at the Emirates Stadium, Brazil vs Portugal (yes with both the famed Ronaldo’s and others!)

6. Pulled off the Projek Amanat Negara IV (April) for the first time since 10 years which led to the Malaysian Student Leaders Summit 2007 (August), a very big breakthrough to nation building among the younger generations. I am very proud of this one! (Recently also spearheaded the First ASEAN Roundtable Discussion)

7. Dined and wined in Jamie Oliver‘s restaurant, Imperial College’s Centenary Ball, Pearl Liang among others!

8. Managed to pull off a crazy Valentine’s Day drama! (It’s an achievement that’s not so dodgy la but to protect identities I will not elaborate :P)

9. Travelled the whole of the United Kingdom with my family, starting from London -> Cambridge -> Edinburgh (passing through York) -> St. Andrews Golf & Country Club -> Dundee -> Glasgow (passing by Sterling) -> Lake District -> Birmingham -> Bath (Stonehenge) -> Windsor Castle -> London again.

10. Most importantly, I am now an honourable graduate from Imperial College London, a receiver of a BSc. Joint Mathematics & Computer Science degree. I was glad I took up the challenge ages ago, knowing that I couldn’t go to the United Kingdom due to financial problems I still applied to the best of Universities, received straight A’s for A-Levels and God pretty much took care of the rest. Also, I finally met someone I can trust my life with in the most dramatic way ever, someone who will never cease to make me wonder how lucky I am in this life. As they always say, the blessed are in a better circumstance to bless the more unfortunate, and that will be my aim throughout my life whether you like it nor not.

I suppose I’ll be re-editing this as I go through my life this year later when I have more time to think, cause it’s been honestly a jumble of a life! I guess I can say my 23rd year have been a very fruitful year, meeting all kinds of cool friend both online and offline who brought me to do many kinds of things. Thank you all, thank you all so much for the wonderful year. Happy New Year to you, all you readers out there who bothers to check up on me!

May 2007 leave in peace as we sing Auld Lang Syne, and welcome the year of 2008 as it dawns upon us full of renewed hopes and opportunities!
