The creative business plan was based on our initiative Student Engagement Center (SEC) which addresses social issues and delivers measurable, transformational change to the student community nationwide, lead bySEC’s very own council representative, Zabrina Zulkeefli, President of Cyberjaya Accounting Club, MMU.

Believing in our youths takes guts especially in a competition at this level, and that is what we did. She took up the responsibility, competed against so many other ideas and emerged a winner. We not only walk the talk, we also emerged as winners!

The Arthur Guinness Fund, in partnership with British Council Malaysia, is looking Malaysia’s own ‘Entrepreneurs for Good’. Application for the Arthur Guinness Fund-British Council (AGF-BC) Social Enterprise Award is open from now until 4^th January 2013. Funding of up to RM40,000 will be granted to up to 6 individuals who are able to come up with a creative business plan that addresses social issues and delivers measurable, transformational change to communities in the country.

Yeap you heard that right!!!! The AGF-BC Social Enterprise Award will be supporting individuals and organizations that are leading or starting innovative project to change Malaysia for the better. In my case, it’s a #betterMalaysia! Not only that, each shortlisted candidate will receive mentoring from established social and business entrepreneurs and will receive valuable insight and guidance on their business models. I could certainly use the help guys… so please, HELP ME ACHIEVE THIS AWARD!!!

The Empowering Youth Endeavours (EYE) Project intends to develop the youth eco-system (starting with the undergraduates) at the national level. Really struck true to me as I face difficulties with both EYE Project and SocialGrooves.com. Both startups benefit the community as a whole. Both startups encourage co-operating with others. Both SHOULD become workplaces where students can work at if they ever drop out of college (Mashable said it first!). One fine example is how EYE is working together with the organizations below to create the 1st Annual Student Leadership Symposium 2012. Bringing together barefoot leads to our future Malaysian leaders, why not?

One of the highlights I have this year, is to be featured on Bernama TV‘s The Breakfast Club (Astro 502)- my first longest LIVE appearance on TV where I discussed about social media at large, about how my silly blog got popular, how I got involved in social media activism and even managed to slot in about how the opportunity for youths have come to Malaysia (in the form of EYE Project). This would not have happened if I did not stumble into @Syafique of the Motivation.my fame, which would not have happened if myHarapan did not invite me (it was a pitch to our Prime Minister @NajibRazak himself, too), and that would not have happened if @RoslanBZ did not have faith in me.

There’s a lot more to share regarding the progress that has happened since the first twtup of the year (#1111TwtUp) at @JayaOne, to experiencing @TeachForMsia’s first crowning of 2011 Fellows, to some dramatic make ups and break ups, to meeting legends such as Professor Muhammad Yunus of Grameen Bank fame, seeing both @UKEC & @YCMS to the height of its progress and of course being best man to Wan Mohd Firdaus, le partner in crime, and many, many more wonderful and exciting moments!

But that will have to wait because I’ll be heading to @JayaOne to countdown to the mysterious year of 2012 – however, I feel that this coming year will be a legendary year, especially for the youths of Malaysia, because for once – their passion and efforts will be recognized and respected by the people of power, and thus, Malaysia’s progress into a high-income nation by 2020 will soon come to be true – thanks to the integrated efforts of both the young and the old!

Finally, the crystal clear vision I had since I was 20 years old was coming to materialize… and it is all thanks to the the support of some of the most fantastic people I’ve met over the years. Let’s greet 2012 with lots of bangs and blasts together!
